Could keep the Pettersson line together for now and see how things play out in the next couple of games.

DeBrusk-Pettersson-Boeser
Joshua-Miller-Garland
Heinen-Suter-Sherwood
Hoglander-Blueger-Raty/Sasson

Otherwise I'd put Suter back with Miller and Boeser, and probably Sherwood with DeBrusk and Pettersson.

He owes the fan base absolutely nothing. It is no one’s business the exact reason why. The fan base in particular should be more than satisfied by what has already been said.

He owes the fan base his livelihood.

he owes his employer his professionalism and hard work. honestly, he is not directly accountable to us, the fanbase.

his employer owes the fanbase, their direct and indirect paying customers, a good product and some accountability.

indirectly, if miller plays like a bozo we are free to boo him. if he shows up after a summer of eating hot dogs with phil kessel and not training, the media, who are theoretically the proxy of us, the customers, can grill him. the extent of it, imo, is the indirect accountability between his performance at his job and us, the customer.

but his employer also owes him, the employee, his privacy and their discretion.

which gets us to where we are now. the employee asked for personal time off, the employer deemed it necessary to grant that time off and, in their accountability to the customers, explained that it was personal without elaborating much due to their responsibilities to their employee.

I’m thinking they’ll start:

DeBrusk Pettersson Sherwood
Hoglander Miller Boeser
Joshua Suter Garland
Sasson Blueger Heinen

Not to disagree too harshly but he actually does have to be made available to the media. It's an obligation of all NHL players. Media also has an obligation to ask the question and Miller can decline to answer.
Though I agree he should be made available the media should show some class and ask if he's feeling better and happy to see he's back. The problem with society now is we want to know the dirt and that in itself is the problem today. People should respect someone else's reasons to do certain things and not make them feel uncomfortable by asking questions that they might not want to answer. Happy to see him back at practice and hope he's back to being himself soon.

I don't need to know all the details about why Miller took a leave for a month.

Of course people in the media that are desperately trying to stay relevant and build a career will want to be the ones to break this story, but as a fan I just care about the on ice product and hope whatever issue was affecting this Miller and the team has been squashed.

I'd swap Heinen and Hoglander, but other than that I think this is the optimal lineup for tonight and going forward. Up front I think we are mostly ok now that JTM is back, the backend though....if they have trouble with the Blues, the Panthers would destroy them, hope the goalie is up for the challenge!

Pumped that Miller is back. Hope he has a big game. Not so pumped for what the talking heads / toxic folks online will start spewing about their sense of entitlement and right to know what's going on with him.

Brannstrom continuing to sit is frustrating. Friedman and Forbort is fine, but man. When he's been good, he's been better than everyone we've brought in.

That wasn't even close to bottom-10 of the worst I've seen. Hell, I've watched worst displays only a few years ago.
It was horrific.

They are completely unable to connect the play. They had more icings than scoring chances.

Honestly completely fine keeping Brannstrom out to try that third pairing. Get him back in the lineup if it doesn't work out though.

So I'm guessing the lines look likes this:

DeBrusk-Pettersson-Sherwood
Hoglander-Miller-Boeser
Joshua-Suter-Garland
Heinen-Blueger-Sasson

Hughes-Myers
Soucy-Juulsen
Forbort-Friedman

Lankinen
I'm happy to see Sherwood back with Pettersson and Debrusk. I understand why Tocchett replaced Sherwood with Boeser when Boeser returned, but it actually seemed to detract from that line, and they had been playing so well together. Sherwood really helps Pettersson as he's good on the forecheck and is a very predictable straight line player that Pettersson can play well off of. Boeser and Pettersson seemed to slow together.

Having Miller back for him and Boeser to form 2/3 of another scoring line is a big part of it, too.

Hopefully having two solid scoring lines is a boon to us.

I'm actually not cool with that connotation and would appreciate if it would stop.

Especially from people who get upset about other players being overly criticized. You keep doing this and im not sure why you want to provoke the Miller vs Pettersson BS that you dislike when it comes directed at 40.

For someone that has posted for a long time here and works in a professional field it's incredibly immature and unprofessional

He owes them nothing about his personal life or problems. Zip. Zero. Notta.

I liked your post and I generally agree ....

.... but one thing I will add is that both the team and the player have marketed JT Miller's personal life. They've done features on it, his super-cool wife has a bit of a profile, they've shown videos of his kids losing their minds when their dad scored an OT winner.

One of the offshoots of letting fans into the personal lives of the players is that when something happens they're now inevitably going to be emotionally involved and want to know. And for this reason I think it's probably better if they didn't do any of that stuff with the players. as much as it's kind of fun sometimes.
