While I think both of these comments are fair, I've listened to every single Tocchet press conference this season. He rarely says any more than one, usually short, sentence about them. Either praise or criticism. Often a reporter will ask about someone's play and he'll give a short response then spin the answer into something team-wide. This season, he's criticize both Pettersson and Miller equally and only Miller got benched.

Sasson definitely has the wheels to play in the NHL, even as a depth center.
But the problem in Abbotsford, was when they tried to move him to wing, He's far better in the middle. And I'm not sure that's where the Canucks will play him

A quick glace at the Western Conference standings reveals that if the Canucks lose to Ottawa, there's a good chance that by Sunday, they'll officially be 'below' the playoff bar in the West.
Granted they've still got games in hand on a lot of teams.......but you know what they say about teams that are below the playoff bar on U.S., Thanksgiving.

I’m pretty sure that’s always been about point percentage. They’re currently 6th.
even if they string say 5-6 wins . other teams would still be ahead of them in pts. like vegas edmonton. etc by the 30 game mark they should know where they stand in terms of playoffs. either wildcard or out of it completely

Let's hope the road trip success continues for the next week or two. Going 5 - 1 would be a major win. Certainly facing some challenges right now.

If we go 5 - 1 and Vegas goes 3 - 2, then after 24 games the Canucks would edge Vega by a pt. That is not a stretch by any means, considering who the Canucks are playing on this trip.

There are a lot of complimentary players on the team now, not many noted goal scorers once past Pettersson and somewhat Hughes.
All these new guys, boards guys, are out there more to be not scored on, sure they will try but the defence can't pinch or push up very often whether by the system or confidence.
In 2016 at 18 games they were 3rd in the division with 20 points and plus 2 GF/GA with 56 goals scored
This year at 18 games they are 5th in the division with 21 points and minus 2 GF/GA with 57 goals scored
By US Thanksgiving day 2015 they were still 3rd in the division by a point but out of in a WC spot if they dropped out of 3rd in the division.
The day after they were out of the playoff picture, to me the first week of December makes a bigger difference like 80% goes to 90+%
Ottawa will turn up the heat Tkachuk hitting will make a difference IMO

This season is quickly becoming extremely uninteresting. If they don't turn it around relatively quickly they'll be playing in a half-full arena regularly at home games.
Knowing our team's curse, it will probably be a Senators victory, something like 2-1, since they lost 3 games in a row, and it's Travis Green on the other side.
Our lone goal likely scored by someone like Soucy.
EDIT: Oh and one of the two Senators goals will be scored by Gaudette.

The West is extremely top heavy right now and it has a bunch of terrible teams. If they won 5 or 6 in a row they’d be behind Winnipeg and probably Minny but they’d still have a decent cushion. There’s really only 9 other teams with a shot at the playoffs: Win, Min, Vegas, Dal, Edm, LA, Col are likely and Cgy and Sea have outside shots. The Canucks are still like 80% to make it. They just won’t have much shot to do anything once there if they don’t improve.
