An honest effort by the Canucks....you can't fault them for that. But the decisive play in the third period was another terrible read by the dynamic duo of Myers and Soucy.

You're in trouble when your veteran d-men are costing you games. A pretty decisive six-game road-trip coming up. If they lay an egg, they could be well below the playoff bar before they return.

Our entire system is based on high percentage shots and we’re the highest % shooting team in the NHL since Tocchet arrived.
High percentage shot does not mean were not taking shots and looking for tips or tip passes with players crashing the net.

If you watch how our forwards setup compared to the oilers for shots we are stuffed in front of the goalie and often looking for a tip. You rarely see a teammate make a shot like garland did tonight or even an attempt.

This is not something you can observe in the system by looking at a stat, its how our forwards setup offensively.

Disappointed. And this is why you need multiple seasons in the top 10 before you trade away assets. We are looking like middle of the road right now. I hope no one is suggesting we need to trade away our 1st for help on defense, because we don't look like a serious contender right now. Hoping we turn it around, but we should have gone something like 4 - 1 -1 on this home stand against weaker teams. Instead we went 2 - 4. The hockey guy is going to be in tears on Sat night.

Thought it was a gutsy performance tonight - can't really fault the effort. Thought Petey was good again which is another plus

Soucy is terrible - I'd even try D-Petey in at this point. Can't be much worse

Hughes-Hronek
Brannstrom-Myers
D Petey - Juulsen/Desharnais

I mean we don’t have Miller, Boeser and Demko. That’s 3 all stars lol.
