Also, doesn’t appear this transaction is happening today. No official announcement from the team. Probably dated for tomorrow so he can get a full practice.

I could actually see them throwing D-Petey in there tonight. They’ve done crazier things. (this is hopium I just want him to play)

I wouldn’t be opposed to splitting up Soucy-Myers and putting Brannstrom on the right side.

Soucy-Brannstrom
Pettersson-Myers
I would be very opposed to saddling Pettersson to the dumb ass. Not even Hughes can deal with the big idiot

Games are timed perfectly to watch both. 3pm Grey Cup 7pm Canucks game so less of a cluster f*** downtown maybe?
I know the schedule makers couldn’t have predicted this but a Canucks vs Jets game would have be amazing as there are a lot of blue bomber fans travelling into town

My reasoning is a multi-pronged approach:

1) Gets Myers and Soucy away from each other
2) Elevates Brannstrom and gets him a few more minutes
3) Should lessen Myers minutes
4) Stylistically, Myers & Pettersson should mesh

Soucy-Brannstrom
Pettersson-Myers
If you're willing to do that why not just put brannchise with Hughes, and then soucy - Hronek.
One of your seven million dollar defensemen is on the ice for eighty percent of the game, both running the show on their own pairings and powerplays.

Will be very happy to see D-Petey play in the show. Management probably looking to see what they have before making trades.
I'm pretty pumped to see a 20-year old d-man being called up to the show after only 10 or so AHL games. But he deserves it.

Fans of the Abbotsford Canucks and some of the media observers saying D-Petey has been their best d-man since Day One. No doubt that if he does get into the lineup, he'll struggle at times. That's just a reflection of how hard it is to transition to playing everyday defense in the NHL.

But the fact he's even here, is a big 'win' for the amateur scouting department. And with Raty and Lekkerimaki still in the everyday lineup, we're finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel in terms of prospect development.

I don’t think Hughes-Brannstrom is a good combination. Also, for as good as Brannstrom has been he still hasn’t got past 17 minutes in TOI.

I’m not opposed to go real whacky and put Soucy with Hughes.

Why not?
Both skate and pass well, Brannstrom really just has to pass the puck to Quinn, be a poor man's Hronek.
Seventeenish minutes is about what he'd get with Quinn at even strength, move hronek back up late in games when necessary.

Soucy on his off side sounds unlikely with Rick..

I get the feeling that this is the game where Stamkos scores a hat trick on us.
Right, this is the Canuck way.

Are you an underachieving team with the worst offense in the league? Just play the Canucks!

Brannstrom, as hard as he tries, isn’t anywhere near as polished as Hronek at retrievals. Putting him with Hughes just neuters his main strengths.

I think him with Hughes is just as unlikely as Soucy with Hughes.

Are you an underachieving player with the worst slump in the league? Just play the Canucks!

I know he's with the Chicago Bedards now but this is just such a great picture.

Man, it is absolutely killing me that I didn’t buy the AHLTV package and I have no opinion on whether this is merited or not.
My guess it's based on the fact he's strung together some good games and they want to reward him with a bit of NHL money. I haven't watched the last few Abby games so IDK if he's played well enough for actual game time in the last few games. But the games I did watch he played good, not extraordinary great but good. Compare him with someone like Brannstrom, who got sent down and you could instantly tell he was a man vs boys, Pettersson has not had that level of impact.

That's my take on it though.
