Man, tough crowd for Silovs. He’s had a rough start but he’s still a solid goaltending prospect for us, even if he needs some more seasoning. If he does start tonight, hopefully he has a solid showing to get his season back on track.

Very interested to see Sherwood with Petey. Sherwood has a lot of skill utility that I think could mesh really well with Petey’s game. And of course, happy to see “The Third Line” together again - hopefully they can re capture some of their magic from last season.

Just be better for the paying fans tonight, please.

i’d play him against nashville, try to get him going by putting him back into a last year’s playoffs mindset

We just need Yul Brenner to give him a cool runnings pump up speech.

Juulsen and Silovs in the lineup means we better be ready to score 6 goals tonight.

Hopefully the boys decide to put in some effort tonight, they’ve been Benning era disrespectful to the fans at home this season. No more of this soft nonsense, time to get back to Tocchet hockey (no that doesn’t mean all defense all the time, just means stop playing so damn light all the time).

Today and Tomorrow.

Two bottom feeders in a row, real bottom, last.

Questions should be about how many goals are or will be scored.

Winning or losing should not even be a question asked or commented on.
Last year's "tight" team, together, on the same page, that had great chemistry would not be concerned I am sure.

Can anyone say "PRESSURE"?
They are digging themselves a hole. They have had one of the easiest schedules playing a lot of non playoff teams (last year).

Stats have both teams really close. So maybe this might be more challenging.
One team in year 2 of a total rebuild and the other .... going all in?

Maybe toss a coin but the Canucks should be angry. I can see Sherwood being in trouble taking some stupid penalties. I could see him trying to take ? out behind the play

would be a lot easier to live with Juulsen's limitations if he would just stop trying to run guys without coverage on the back check.
He was actually better when he played more consistently. When he just gets in every on s and a while he tries to overcompensate and be too aggressive and it always burns him.

Intensity in the First Period
  • Players know they have to be ready to go from puck drop
  • Play hockey and have some fun too
  • A lot of positives here; lots of positives and the one negative is got to start on time
Silovs
  • Starting tonight’s game
  • Would like to not have odd-man rushes against him tonight
  • Last thing you want is your goalie facing a 3-on-2 in the first 5 minutes of the game or goal-mouth scrambles
  • Wants to let him settle into the game
  • Had a good outing in Abbotsford and has had some good practices
Juulsen
  • Playing in tonight’s game
Garland
  • Has played a lot for Tocchet
  • Energizer-type of guy; drives lines
  • Starting to play on the PK so gets a little extra ice time there
  • Doesn’t want to overplay him
  • When you are looking to get your team going, look at a guy like him to get your team out of a funk
  • Wins a lot of battles, quick on the puck, holds on to puck
  • When you throw pucks away, it’s easy for the other team to defend; one of the better players on the team at holding onto the puck and making a play
Tonight’s Game
  • Don’t care who you play, giving up too much
  • Thought they corrected up some of their mistakes in the road trip but reverted once back in Vancouver
  • Can create more chances of the rush; turning 3-on-2s into 3-on-3s too quickly and thinks they will be better at that tonight
  • If you give this team something, they know what to do
  • Did a rush presentation today
Soucy-Myers
  • Tend to stick what you know
  • Were good for the team in the playoffs
  • Have struggled at times but are rounding out there game
Breakouts
  • Believes part of the problem for their breakouts is confidence; neither know where the forwards are at on the ice
  • New players are trying to figure out the new system and are not where
  • They need to be on breakouts; this causes the defencemen to double clutch, hold it for a second, then get stripped
  • Not entirely players’ fault; coaching staff needs to be better at teaching new players where to be all the time
  • Responsibility everywhere
  • If you are at your spot, it gives everyone confidence; when the puck carrier has the puck and doesn’t seen primary outlet, they have to hold it or throw it off the glass
  • Need to be better at being connected
Bedard
  • Great at finding the good ice
  • Might pressure him but he will draw a double team then make a play
  • Can shoot through a screen as good as anyone
  • Elite at going outside-inside

What does it say about Debrusk when Tocc cant wait for Joshua to get a few games to find his legs before needing someone who plays on the inside for Garland. Does make sense for Sherwood to move into the vacancy. He should drag Jake into the fight you would think. For a big guy he plays soft quite a bit

Miller is on an island with a super green rookie and Suter. Suter is a good player but he's mostly soft as hell and on the outside. It works best with both Miller and Boeser who are strong and talented enough to create on the cycle and then get inside where he can just be a link and support that with scoring acumen and smarts.

With Lekk-Suter Miller gets tasked with all of the heavy lifting and they are a easy line to defend. Furthermore if Miller tries to hard to make it happen physically it will just lead to him getting burned on the counterattack. I know Tocc is trying to put Lekkerimaki in the best place to succeed but having Hoglander and Heinen 5.25m on a 4th line doesn't look very good when our D sucks

Juulsen just has to not go out of position to make a hit and create an odd man rush the other way. It’s that simple. Instead of stepping up and hitting a player taking him totally out of the play, he needs to stay back and defend the 3on2/3on3 etc.

I mean it shouldn’t be this hard to resist the urge to go for a big hit?

How many more opportunities will management allow him if he continues to do this?
