I suspect the team looks exponentially better with another top 4 defender. Top 4 but a player to would really define as top 3.

Gives you the option to minimize Soucy and/or Myers. The second pairing has been dragging the team down all season, and I was I fan of it in the playoffs but what the hell happened?

It'll have an effect up and down the lineup. Push guys into more appropriate roles. Take some minutes off the top pair. Help Lankinen. Hopefully give the forwards a quick up option over ringing it around the boards or whatever anyone not named Hughes or Hronek are doing.

But it's basically Christmas season and top 4 defenders are turbo-man, or whatever the hot toy of the season is. That 25' first is already sold.
Myers has regressed to non-contract year Myers.

Re-signing Myers instead of using that money to go after Tanev (who I still think would have given a home town discount) has to be Allvin's biggest blunder so far as the GM.

It’s ironic to me that

I think it’s becoming clear that this roster as a whole, not including guys like Miller, just aren’t the type of players to play the way he wants. He was great last year because the team was chaotic and still feeling the fallout of the Benning regime. Now that Allvin and Rutherford have steadied the ship I almost feel like, ironically, a coach like Boudreau would fit the team better now that the structure and discipline in play is more entrenched and the roster is more mature

I don't think any of this is true.

90% of the team's problems are because the blueline build gives them matchup issues and forces them to overplay Myers-Soucy and because Pettersson and Miller have not been playing at expected levels. And we're still on pace for 100+ points despite not being really in sync all season.

Isn’t Toronto his actual home town?

It’s hard for a GM to compete with our fantasy deals.

Yeah, you might be right. I always thought of Vancouver being his "2nd home" and an organization/city he never wanted to leave were it not for Benning's incompetence. But no idea what he really thought.

This is why I don’t understand why everyone was so happy when they bought back Meyers. His cap hit plus one of the bottom 6/7 scrubs we signed would have been enough to bring back old man Tanev..

Particularly disheartening game because the last one looked like they might be turning a corner.
Actually, I'm not sure the last game against Calgary could be viewed as 'turning a corner'. Despite playing a dog-tired Flame team, they still gave up far too many 'Grade A' chances and time pressured in their own zone.

The sad fact is that the Canucks haven't had a full 60-minute on home ice this season--even in the measly two games they've actually won. The holes in this lineup are being exposed in every game, at least at home.
