WHEN: Sat. Nov 9th, 7:00pm
WHERE: Rogers Arena, Vancouver, BC
TV: HNIC/Sportsnet Pacific
RADIO: Sportsnet 650

Canucks Line-Up:

Suter-Miller-Garland
DeBrusk-Pettersson-Hoglander
Heinen-Blueger-Sherwood
Aman-Raty-Bains

Hughes-Hronek
Soucy-Myers
Brannstrom-Desharnais

Lankinen

Oilers Line-Up:

TBD

Young 4th line, will see how much Tocchett trusts them.

Liked Pettersson’s game with Garland and Suter, none of them crunched anyone physically but they retrieved pucks with their awareness, quickness, and stick checking, they moved the puck quickly and made little nifty plays amongst each other and found ways through traffic into the slot area and used the D effectively too. DeBrusk & Hoglander are both fast north-south type skaters and that isn’t something Pettersson excels with as much.

Yeah for real lol.

DeBrusk - Miller - Garland
Suter - Pettersson - Hoglander

Or switch Garland and Hoglander - Tocchet probably doesn’t want to promote Hoglander to the first line though lol!

I don’t mind DeBrusk & Miller being split up, their games are too similar, both like to hang on to the puck and drive to the net. Both are fast power forwards. Need variety on a line to be successful

Hope Boeser just misses 1 game for precautionary reasons, he looked okay after taking that dirty hit, seemed to shake it off like a champ, could’ve bee much worse.

Oilers’ Struggles
  • Had a bad start last year and got one goal away from winning a Stanley
Cup
  • Very resilient team; they are dangerous
  • Canucks don’t take them lightly
  • Know how to handle adversity
Tonight’s Game
  • Would be very surprised if the Canucks’ players aren’t ready for a Saturday night game against the Oilers after the playoff loss
  • Excited to see some young guys play in these types of games; good for their development
Boeser
  • Doesn’t feel great but wouldn’t say it’s horrible
  • Would call his status “indefinite”
Desharnais
  • Work-in-progress
  • Got to keep working with him; when Gonchar was around, practiced with
him three days in a row
  • Needs reps
  • Has to really work on his game but has stuff that can really help the team
Joshua
  • Hopefully back this home stand
  • Took a couple of days off and needs 3 or 4 really hard skates before a decision can be made
Bains & Aman
  • Can create an identity on the 4th line
  • Be a fast line that can hold on to pucks, score occasionally, and be
  • responsible
  • Looking to see if they can be on the ice against McDavid and Draisaitl
  • Don’t want a 4th line that you need to shelter
  • Not there yet but getting close
Sprong
  • Is a great kid
  • Couldn’t get him in a top-6 role; a couple of guys ahead of him for the
  • what they needed
  • Wasn’t fair to him to play 4th line and 10 minutes
  • Figured a couple of younger guys can play the role they want
Lineup Without Boeser
  • A couple of match-up challenges
  • Can get Pettersson and DeBrusk out there in favourable situations
  • Looking for different match-ups
DeBrusk
  • Playing confident
  • Has really worked with video team the last two weeks
  • Is good without the puck and can tell he’s building confidence

Those lines are major oof.

If we win tonight it will be thanks to some combination of Lankinen and the Roxy, nothing else lol.
