Slow start but the better team took over towards the end of the 1st and didn't look back. Solid effort all around but also Anaheim is not very good.

Hughes looked like the NHL is too easy of a league for him tonight. Incredible skating and offense creation. Pushed the play up the ice quickly the few times he was in the defensive zone. If I had to nitpick, still forcing a bit too much and should defer to Hronek a bit more when on the point.

Speaking of Hronek, continues to be a rock defensively. Would like a bit more offensive production but can't complain about the overall game. Absolute stud top pairing.

One of Pettersson's better games for sure, had a bunch of chances in close. Looks like he has the yips with the puck though with how often his aim can be off on both shots and passes. Skating looked a bit better tonight as well. Still don't know if he tipped that shot but deserves credit for the screen if he didn't.

3rd line looking an x-factor since they were put together, very hard and consistent work ethic both even strength and on the PK. Again not understanding at all the complaints about Heinen.

Lankinen continues to be more than solid. Can see he's confident and the team is confident in him. Always seems to be there whenever a big save is needed.

Brannstrom is going to have some off games here and there but is still a major asset in the bottom-4. Skated well and pushed the play up the ice quite well tonight. Desharnais still a bit awkward at times but did not look as out of place.

Soucy had a lot of trouble in the 1st half of the game again and don't know what you're going to get from Myers on a nightly basis. As we all know, still need to add that top-4 D-man to be comfortable heading into the playoffs.

It's hard to believe the Canucks have a player like Quinn Hughes. Even in his interview, he didn't really crack a smile at his achievement. It looked like he was far from satisfied.

It remains a concern that the Canucks continue to not look ready at the start of games. If this happens against the Kings, I predict a loss

Yep, I feel bad for the Sedins but they are so anomalous I make them their own category. But Bure and Quinn are more dynamic and talented players. I think Quinn will end up being considered better than Bure because it wasn't that Bure was selfish, it's just that he could break a game himself and Quinn uses the entire team as a single unit of artillery.

I thought you said they were "shit f***ing ass"?
Probably.

Got to consider the opponent but that was likely the best played game by the Canucks this year. Had 4 lines going and outside of the first goal were in control. Lots of improved preformances and achieved Tocchet's hope of much cleaner movement of the puck.

Good

Hughes - just outstanding. On a different level. Shot looks improved

Sherwood - made himself a pest and drew penalties on top of having an excellent offensive game. Was bringing it every shift in this game. Continues to improve. Deserved a star

Hoglander - kinda mimiked Sherwood - worked the end boards boards and had the Ducks chasing him around. Showed good speed on the forcheck and created chances. After some doubtful play, Hoglander stepped up in this game and was more engaged. No points but if he plays like this, they will come.

Myers - repeatly got Ducks off the puck and moved puck effectively out of his end. Also got up ice to faciliate offense. Soucy struggled at times and Myers had to carry a lot the play around his net. Played well on the PK for the most part. As did Desharnais

Garland - best forward on the team game in, game out.

Brannstrom - amazing how solid he's been. Don't understand why others just gave up on him. Got ran some in this game but never flinched and his passing from his end was very good. Thought he turned the play around quickly throughout the game. Helped Desharnais have a much better effort.

Boeser - improved skating allowed him to be good game in both zones. Hopefully close to really breaking out scoring wise

Others

Raty - thought he had his best prefromance in the AHL last weekend and this was his best season prefromance in the NHL. Went to the body and stayed central to the play. Skating did not appear to be as much of a problem as it was early in the season.

Sprong - little to criticize. Actually seemed fine defensively. Just got to start to convert those chances into points

DeBrusk - thought overall he was pretty ordinary but maybe he now gets on a scoring streak.

Might want to rest Joshua and let this group finish off the road trip.

About the only sour point was the PP which is having so much trouble establishing possession in the offensive end. Next game will be a lot trickier especially if we go with Silovs but road trip success at this point. Getting these points will crucial come April

Man the Preds really shot themselves in the foot by letting Sherwood go and signing a fading one trick pony like Stamkos and an aging Marchessault. Sherwood has the same number of points as March (7) and two more than Stamkos at a fraction of either of their cap hits.
They over-reacted to getting shut-down offensively in the first round and targeted the wrong guys. They should have tried to make trades instead.

I'm wondering if Trotz is wondering how inelastic his hockey market is? Are they trying to hang on to any hope of being in the mix in case instead of selling out he's getting 12-14k a night? I am partially curious to see about that, Colorado and Chicago dropped off a lot more than I would have thought, though Chicago had historic bad ownership.

To me if Joshua is back next game I just sub raty out and put suter back on the 4th for now.

But I'm terrified this being tocchet he's going to take someone like hoglander out or sprong. Team needs the speed they bring.

Missed the game drinking away my sadness while watching the election results (I promise no politics mods), but looks like the good guys won on the ice tonight.

How did Petey and Raty look? And how was Suter in the top 6?

Fans will come out for winning teams. The fans have probably heard of Stamkos, probably less heard of Marchessault. I think they just miscalculated and thought that their scoring issues would be fixed by added March and Stamkos, less likely that they thought Stammer would sell tickets.

hfboards will spite quinn hughes no matter what, "Brian Leetch AINEC" go love yourself hfboarders. Hughes is the goat despite the lack of talent he has compared to makar and Leetch.

Hype for Hughes! Just a fantastic milestone!

Raty didn't stand out to me, good or bad, but the line looked decent to me in their limited minutes. Hoglander and Sprong got up and down without obvious defensive lapses but at the same time it didn't look especially cohesive. VS this Ducks team they were fine.

I'm a fan of Suter as a third wheel on a scoring line in general because I think he does a great job of knowing when to cover while the team forechecks. I think it helped Miller get to the end boards last year and the same here with Pettersson.
I wouldn't say Petey played any better tonight, he's still hesitant looking, but being free to rotate onto the wing had him skating a bit more aggressively at times rather than doing whatever is safest, and that led to more looks at goal for him.
