Hey Op, can you still edit players while in GM mode (equipment and position?) I know some years EA takes it away and it ruins GM mode for me, especially the position part

for obvious reasons, you can't edit overall and potential, but yes you can still edit positions and at the very least goalie gear!

Btw, I quickly took a look at who was protected and who wasn’t, and boy, there’s some odd things.

Like Brent Burns is available for some reason, I think the CPU protected Brenden Dillion over Burns for some reason.

So something like that I’m not gonna exploit. I think I’m my practice one I took Tim Heed instead.

So, I’m kinda interested to see what my team ends up being, and wondering if the CPU generates different expansion lists or not.

BREAKING NEWS: Rangers outlast Jets 8-7 in thrilling game
Jan. 13th, 2021
In the Rangers worst defensive game of the season, the entertainment was at an all time high. Panarin, Kravtsov and Zibanejad all had 3-point nights, while 10 different Range rs had atleast 1 point.
It was the Rangers second win of the second half, they also beat the Flyers 6-0. These wins sandwich a 5-2 loss to the Maple Leafs. In that loss, the Rangers also lost Jonathan Ericsson for another game to an injury.[/QUOTE]

BREAKING NEWS: Bad becomes worse as Rangers lose Lundqvist
Jan. 31st, 2021
The Rangers have lost Henrik Lundqvist on a week-to-week basis with the expectation of a Feb. 20th return date. This comes at a time where the Rangers are struggling to defend, score, or do much of anything they were good at doing in the first half of the season. They have now fallen from 2nd in the packed Metropolitan to 4th, and are 7 points behind the 1st place Penguins.
Defenseman Jacob Trouba now leads the team with 45 points in 50 games.
Igor Shesterkin takes over in nets.

BREAKING NEWS: Rangers win 4th straight on back of Shesterkin
Feb. 10th, 2021
When the sky seems to be falling, there is always a saving grace. For the Rangers, Igor Shesterkin is holding the fort. He is now 4-0 since taking over the starters role, with 1 shutout over the rival Islanders.
He is not alone though, as the offense has somewhat rekindled it's magic to the tune of 19 goals in the 4 games.
Aretmi Panarin now has 50 points (20-30--50) in 54 games, which leads the club.

*lost a buit of writeup here....signed henrik lundqvist (1 year, $6.000M) and Filip Chytil (6 years, 5.5M) to extensions, clinched playoffs against pittsburgh*

*sorry about the slip up, i really wish HF had a way to save posts when in the middle of them*

BREAKING NEWS: Vitali Kravtsov dominates in return, Rangers clinch Eastern
March 4th, 2021
After missing 2 games with a LBI, Vitali Kravtsov returned with vengeance. His hattrick performance lifted his season goal total to 47, an incredible total for the 21 year old.

The win helped the Rangers clinch the 1st overall spot in the Eastern Conference, guaranteeing them home ice for atleast the first 3 rounds. The Vegas Golden Knights have 110 points just like the Rangers, but have played all 82 games, while the Rangers have 1 remaining to clinch the NHL.

The Rangers were blessed with spectacular goaltending again this season, even when Lundqvist went down with an injury. The netminders are the backbone of this President's Cup Winning team. The duo will return next season again.

Jacob Trouba took it to a whole new level this season, and brought Brady Skjei with him. Both players shattered their previous career highs in points, but Trouba was a dominating force. His 78 points were tied with Erik Karlsson for most in the league, but Karlsson only players 8o games. That being said, Trouba's +39 was 34 better than Karlsson's +5. It'll be a close race to see who wins the Norris. Tony DeAngelo and Adam Fox continue to make strides as offensive defensemen, while Marc STaal and Jonathan Ericsson were the steadying factors. Brendan Smith split action as a defenseman and a forward.

The Rangers possessed the most potent offense in the NHL, highlighted by their 9 players with 40+ points, 49-goal scorer Vitali Kravtsov and point per game player Artemi Panarin. Filip Forsberg rebounded to his 60 point heights, while Jesse Puljujarvi, Filip Chytil and Kaapo Kakko continued to make strides. Lias Andersson finally established himself with a breakout season, while depths guys Gurianov, Sorensen, Di Giuseppe and Lemieux performed admirably.

What a reward it is for winning the Presidents' Trophy. The Rangers draw a first round matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning, led by Vasilevskiy, Stamkos, Kucherov and Hedman. They are joined by former Ranger Ryan McDonagh and other scorers such as Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat. They are missing Brayden Point, who failed to come to terms with the team before the RFA deadline on Dec. 1st.

The Rangers will need Henrik Lundqvist to be at the top of his game, while they will also need massive contributions from their top guys to match the scoring of the high-flying Lightning.

HI guys - is it worth starting a franchise mode now?
I normally find the rosters so wacky until the October roster update comes out - especially when it comes to prospects

Personally hopping on it in October / November personally.

If I had the game now I’d still probably wait just to make editing on myself easier, but I’m waiting until late October or so. Let some prospects play and get in the game, let them make some edits so my life is easier before starting.

I drafted a 17-year-old winger 5th overall with my Seattle expansion team. The kid is 67 overall - After a strong start to his American West campaign I brought him over to my AHL team. He is currently on our second line in the AHL with Magnus Paarvai and Melker Karlsson. He has put up 23 points in 24 games as a Medium Top 6 Forward.

Am I doing him a dis service playing him in the AHL at 67 overall now as an 18-year-old? He is producing well but I am worried this may affect his growth? Can a player like him play in this role long term without any effect? He is leading all rookies in PPG in the AHL - Well also leading the team in points with 10 fewer games than the guy behind him.

Please let me know what you think. Is he ok playing in this role?

As the summer dragged on, excitement grew bigger among the fanbase for the drop of the puck in Seattle. The Kraken were nearly here! Inside the KeyArena however, the management and coaching staffs were going through scouting report, and scouting report. While the top 30 bodies in the organization were generally filled out, they needed to find another 10 or so bodies to help round out the organization, and the Burnaby AHL team.

The following players were signed to contracts;
C Rickard Hugg
C Alex Holmstrom
D Josh Wesley
D Keaton Middleton
RW Michael Lindqvist
D Adam Ollas Mattsson
C Brady Gilmour
G Arvid Holm
D Markus Niemelainen
LW Carl Jakobsson
LW Dmitri Kabaonov
G Taylor Gauthier
D Julius Bergman

As Training Camp approached, Seattle made yet another trade, this time dealing Tim Heed to the Dallas Starts, receiving a 2020 6th Round Pick & left wing prospect Nicholas Caamano. In a statement, Seattle GM said "Nick is a very good young player. Has size, has a good shot, and isn't afraid to go into the physical areas. He's probably a couple years away, but we think he's a future contributor for us."

cut.jpeg

Lawson Crouse led the team in points with 7 during the pre-season, with Adam Lowry following his lead with 7 of his own, and linemate Oliver Bjorkstrand with 6.

Training Camp has come and gone! Seattle has what head coach Stephanie Paris called a very successful pre-season;

"You know, this was the first 7 games these guys have ever played together. 2 wins, 2 overtime or shootout losses, and 3 one goal losses. Our final game was a 5 goal win. We saw a lot of good things, our second line was one of the best around the league during camp, Adam (Lowry), Lawson (Crouse) & Oliver (Bjorkstrand) looked like they have been playing on a line together the past 10 years. Boyle, Pomms, Kuraly & Leipsic all showed great things as role players."

However, not everything was positive. Seattles top line, featuring Pavel Zacha, Anthony Cirelli, & Calle Jarnkrok, didn't fare so well. They each had a point,

"As I said earlier, it's been 7 games. We're going to reduce their minutes a bit, let them get comfortable, and then move forward from there. We need to give these guys a chance to gel" Paris said.

Heading into the season, the Seattle Kraken released their 23 man roster, which breaks down as follows;

Lawson Crouse - Adam Lowry - Oliver Bjorkstrand
Pavel Zacha - Anthony Cirelli - Calle Jarnkrok
Brandon Leipsic - Brian Boyle - Jason Pominville
Trevor Moore - Sean Kuraly - Josh Leivo
Brendan Lemieux, Noel Acciari

Nikita Zadorov - Dougie Hamilton
Ben Hutton - Adam Larsson
Jacob Larsson - Scott Mayfield
Slater Koekkoek

Jake Allen
Casey DeSmith

Next: The Regular Season Begins! Will Seattle surprise much like Vegas did? Or will it become apparent they are in the running for Alexis Lafreniere?
