The Flames are currently 39 points ahead of the Kings. Should that continue to the end, that would be the largest point differential in a season between the two teams since the Flames moved to Calgary. The Flames finished 37 points ahead of the Kings in 87-88, and then also beat the Kings 4-1 in the 1st round(the Kings were also the 4th worst team in the league that year). The last time the Kings and Flames made the playoffs in the same season was 92-93. The last time they both missed in the same season was 02-03.
