If 2 weeks ago somebody said we would score 5 goals in a game with Petey and Hog out and Boeser and Debrusk combining for 1 assist, you would promptly send them to the nearest mental institution.

Can't say enough about the grunts on this team. A very hard-working, likeable group of foot soldiers that play hard and the right way every night.

They should be good, at best by bottom 6 standards. A lot of guys around $3m. The team spends a lot on grunts. We aren't rolling 6 $1m guys to save cap for the top 6. They sacrifice the top 6 to some degree to bolster the bottom 6.

Remember the Benning plugs that didn’t do f***ing shit until the games are meaningless and they go all out to ruin the tank? Those anti clutch f***ers..

If the Rangers shit the bed next season, that pick could be Gavin McKenna.
The Rangers could still make the playoffs. The have three easy games coming up. Before they tackle there hard part of their schedule but a lot of those team might be resting their players by the time they play them. The Islanders, and Blue Jackets both have some of the hardest remaining schedules. Canadiens look to be running out of gas and can’t keep playing in over their heads. If the Rangers can just play some decent hockey down the stretch they should waltz into the playoffs.

I looked at the remaining games, I think maybe five are actually winnable, the others I'm really not sure.

We basically need WPG level of winning for the remainder of the season in order to even have a possibility of playoffs.

What are you thinking, Valk?

Are these guys going to pull it off?

Ha..ha.....Raty outscored Horvat in this one!

I know Raty's progress has seemed pretty glacial at times, but he's knocking down the door to becoming an NHL player. He's a consistently dominant player at the AHL level, and now has three goals in limited minutes as an NHL call-up.

Raty was a second round pick of the Islanders--and most second round picks need some development time in the AHL. And Raty, despite still only being 22. has put in three solid years in the AHL and has improved every season. And at both the NHL and AHL--he's close to 65 percent in the dot.

I know the Canucks will be beating the bushes for centers in the off-season. But I think it likely that Raty spends the entire year in Vancouver next season. And hopefully he can gain the confidence he needs to move higher up in the lineup.

And games like tonight, not to mention the remaining 10 games in the NHL schedule will be vital for him. Hopefully followed by long run in the AHL playoffs.

The back end is starting to look very crowded as Forbort is emerging as a legitimately good defenseman but you cannot block E.Pettersson from his development curve at this point. Mancini also fits the 6D role like a glove and brings some offensive flair.

Hughes-Hronek
M.Pettersson-Myers
Elias Pettersson-Mancini
Forbort-Willander

I think Willander plays the year in the AHL next season.

The problem for us is that he’s starting his waiver eligibility next season so he has to be ready, and if he isn’t, a team more comfortable with his slower development curve and time to let him figure shit out will probably steal him.

I really think we'll acquire a centre this offseason noone had on their radar. Someone who is an outcast on a current team and under the radar. Basically redo the Miller trade when we acquired him. Easier said than done of course. But I think management has a plan.

One guy I’ve wondered about is Hintz in Dallas. With Rantanen in the fold and big new contracts to Johnston and Oettinger, Harley due a raise after next year, plus potentially wanting to re-sign Duchene and Benn, they might try to move some money and get some younger, cheaper talent back. But it would almost certainly cost Willander or Lek plus more

Wrong person to ask haha, I'm not exactly known for my glowing optimism.

I just hope that no one gets hurt, and that any Abby call up players and other rookies can take advantage of this opportunity and play their hearts out. Because the current games we are playing, while still in regular season, are starting to feel like playoff games in terms of intensity. With Pete and Piggy both out, this is their golden chance to show the team their potential.

It's at a point where Quinn Hughes is putting up points where you're not even noticing him on the ice. It's just a given that he's on the scoresheet. It's unbelievable what we're witnessing as Canuck fans. Honestly I haven't heard much about Hughes in the hockey world until recently, but if he wasn't playing hurt for most of the season, you would probably see another Norris trophy and quite possibly the Hart.

Demko was spectacular tonight. I honestly hope Demmer resigns and give the Nucks a very good 1A/1B tandem. Evenly split games could benefit both Demko/Lankinen at this stage of their careers.

We may miss the playoffs this season but there still is a chance for the Canucks. It will take a miracle but "I will be cheering until the end!"

The season overall has been a severe disappointment, but "All" will be forgiven if the 2025 Canucks make the playoffs.
With Hughes in the lineup anything could happen.

Huge 2 points.

Go Canucks
If we win the game in hand we only need to win one more game than the blues in the final 10.
The blues are not as good as the team they have been since mid February and odds are they will stumble at some point.
If we get our guys back and Demko stays playing like well, Demko, I like our chances.

Suter - 1.5
Sherwood - 1.5
forbort - 1.5
Aman, Karlsson, Raty, DP - 780-800ishK
Giving credit where credit is due while the top end of the team has fallen flat this season you can't complain about the support cast, they've been really good. If Jim Benning could have constructed the middle/bottom of the team this well while he had Pettersson/Miller/Boeser/Hughes/Demko the Canucks probably would have been a contender.

We need more (for)Bort license plates in the gift shop!

so earlier this year, when forbort came back into the lineup after missing most of the first two months with his personal leave, my kid heard his name on the PBP and was like, we got forsberg?

and he meant peter, because when we play road hockey i always yell forsberg when i try that deke.

He's probably our fourth best defenceman behind Hughes, Hronek and M Petey, and he hasn't even played a game. Kid is elite.
Yes, I agree, but even so, I wonder if it could be too much of a gamble to test the waters with the growing pains that may come with his first few games, when every game matters so much and we are not short of solid defenseman at the moment. There's really zero room for error at this point, and the defenseman we have are already playing quite well.

i mean, in the benning years when petey, hughes, and demko were all still on cheap deals, if we could have had the equivalent of suter, blueger, sherwood, forbort, and EP2 on an ELC instead of sutter, eriksson, beagle, OEL, and myers at $6m, we’d have been able to sign a couple guys in the panarin/pietrangelo tier.

Getting Horvat back would be pretty funny (not that he's an outcast).
No thanks to Horvat.
He tried his signature 1 in 100 ‘fake inside go outside a couple steps inside the blueline move’ a few times and failed as usual.

Not a playmaker, not creative, not a play driver, not the answer the team needs.

Makes sense. He looked tentative and a non factor until he scored his goal. That seemed to give him the confidence he needed to start making plays and winning battles. If he keeps that up, he’s a useful player.
