Post-Game Talk: GM 73 | Canucks def. Isles | 5-2 (Sherwood x2, Raty, Forbort, Blueger) | IT’S ALIIIIIIVE!

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Great third period by the team. Shut down the Islanders emphatically and established they were the better team on the night.

Good

Demko - obvious first star - does the team have a goaltending controversy??? Guess you can't have too many good goalies and you have to be nervous about Demko's longevity. This game was another positive step for Demko.

Sherwood - right place at the right time in this game. Filled in the scoring gap at the first part of the season when others not producing and doing so now. Case can be made here here for your unsung hero award.

O'Connor - to me he was the most consistent in keeping pressure of the puck. Even early in the game when the team was finding its legs he was pushing the play ice.

M. Pettersson - I think the best defensive d-man since Tanev. Might be more of help long term for this team than Miller would have been. That's wide open to question but I don't understand how Pittsburg gives him and O'Connor up (while accepting our garbage) for a what looks like a mid round first in a very iffy draft.

Forbort - took a player off the scrap heap and somehow he has become solid regular. Has been better than anyone speculated.

Garland - I think he is playing injured or at least more injured than others (like everyone is injured at this point) but still he is effective.

Myers - a +4 in this game and big in the late going. Like others did good job of keeping things to outside. Right now Him and M. Pettersson are a good NHL second pairing.

Others

Raty - Like other farmhands he is contributing. Team should be lauded for allowing the movement up and down b/w Vancouver and Abby to be fairly seamless. Raty certainly did not look out of place. Nor did Karlsson or Pettersson. Still have big doubts about Raty at this level but games like this give you some hope.

Don't know if a good thing or a bad thing but team looks just as good without Pettersson as they do with him.

If the Rangers shit the bed next season, that pick could be Gavin McKenna.

A nice win in a "must win" game for both teams. A tough loss for th eNYI's. But our future is a challenge. either need STL to fold or the Wild to tank. probably. the Flamesare not yet done. Going to be a "wild" race to the finish in both east and west.

it probably will be McKenna to be honest, but that's only because the Penguins hold it now
We probably have a better chance at the Nucks own pick being McKenna than the Rangers pick. Let's be honest niether one of these picks will be anywhere close to drafting him and it's not worth the fuss pretending it might even happen.

It's at a point where Quinn Hughes is putting up points where you're not even noticing him on the ice. It's just a given that he's on the scoresheet. It's unbelievable what we're witnessing as Canuck fans. Honestly I haven't heard much about Hughes in the hockey world until recently, but if he wasn't playing hurt for most of the season, you would probably see another Norris trophy and quite possibly the Hart.

Demko was spectacular tonight. I honestly hope Demmer resigns and give the Nucks a very good 1A/1B tandem. Evenly split games could benefit both Demko/Lankinen at this stage of their careers.

We may miss the playoffs this season but there still is a chance for the Canucks. It will take a miracle but "I will be cheering until the end!"

The season overall has been a severe disappointment, but "All" will be forgiven if the 2025 Canucks make the playoffs.
With Hughes in the lineup anything could happen.

Huge 2 points.

Go Canucks

If 2 weeks ago somebody said we would score 5 goals in a game with Petey and Hog out and Boeser and Debrusk combining for 1 assist, you would promptly send them to the nearest mental institution.

Can't say enough about the grunts on this team. A very hard-working, likeable group of foot soldiers that play hard and the right way every night.

Kiefer Sherwood has been an absolute godsend. When all looks lost, he is there with massive goals. Leading the NHL in hits by a wide margin and just broke the record for hits in a single season. Quite possibly the best value non ELC player in the league, aside from Lankinen.

Keep grinding guys, the fact we’re doing this without so many players is pretty impressive, let’s catch the wild, or better yet watch the Oilers lose like nine games

Best value non ELC player in the league is Protas who has 2 less even strength points than McDavid.
