Post-Game Talk: GM 73 | Canucks def. Isles | 5-2 (Sherwood x2, Raty, Forbort, Blueger) | IT’S ALIIIIIIVE!

Don't win that game without Demko. So many big saves, especially early.

Momentum was a fickle bitch in this game. Both teams had stretches where they completely carried play for long stretches. Goaltending was the difference tonight.

Probably Raty's best game as a Canuck. That libe was buzz sawing all night. Another reason I don't think it makes sense to pay Suter market value.

Hughes was trying to do too much at times, but adjusted. 3rd period he started moving the puck quicker, and it made all the difference. Really strong 3rd by the boys.

One game at a time. Enjoy it, then tomorrow foxus shifts to our next lamb.

I really think we'll acquire a centre this offseason noone had on their radar. Someone who is an outcast on a current team and under the radar. Basically redo the Miller trade when we acquired him. Easier said than done of course. But I think management has a plan.
Getting Horvat back would be pretty funny (not that he's an outcast).

We're making the playoffs. Minny won't make it.
They better go streaking.

Jets 1
Stars 1
Knights 2
Avs 1
Wild 1

Sharks 1
Kraken 1
Ducks 1
Jackets 1

12 out of 20 points looks about right.
92 points, that's basically asking Wild, Blues, Flames all playing .450 or less hockey for their last games.

Nice to see a game where guys all up and down the lineup hit the scoresheet. We need everyone pulling on the rope right now.

Demko was colossal. The first period alone he stopped three or four five alarm chances. Great to see him back in the net and looking like himself.

Hughes looked gassed tonight - so it was nice to see the rest of the team lift him up (give or take two or three terrible giveaways from Myers).

Just keep going. Onto the next one.

I know this season has been rough but I'm feeling as positive as I've been all year even if we don't make the playoffs. Next year is looking bright. It's a shame management waited until 70% of the season was over before they decided to address the D and that was only after they traded Miller.

Hughes Myers
Soucy Juulsen
Forbort Desharnais

That was our starting D for a large chunk of the season. It's no wonder this teams struggling to make the playoffs, it's literally laughable.

Going into next season we have a top 5 Dcore and also one of the youngest. Im feeling good!
The playoffs are the only season

It's crazy what having good goaltending looks like. Lankinen was incredible at the start of the year, but he's had to play way too much and it clearly wore him down.

Making the playoffs still looks daunting with how hot St. Louis is and how far back of Minny they are, but if Demko can even play 30-35 games next year, and we don't have to punt 11 games with an 86% goalie, next year looks good with the d-core we have in place.

Great third period by the team. Shut down the Islanders emphatically and established they were the better team on the night.

Good

Demko - obvious first star - does the team have a goaltending controversy??? Guess you can't have too many good goalies and you have to be nervous about Demko's longevity. This game was another positive step for Demko.

Sherwood - right place at the right time in this game. Filled in the scoring gap at the first part of the season when others not producing and doing so now. Case can be made here here for your unsung hero award.

O'Connor - to me he was the most consistent in keeping pressure of the puck. Even early in the game when the team was finding its legs he was pushing the play up
ice.

M. Pettersson - I think the best defensive d-man since Tanev. Might be more of help long term for this team than Miller would have been. That's wide open to question but I don't understand how Pittsburg gives him and O'Connor up (while accepting our garbage) for a what looks like a mid round first in a very iffy draft.

Forbort - took a player off the scrap heap and somehow he has become solid regular. Has been better than anyone speculated.

Garland - I think he is playing injured or at least more injured than others (like everyone is injured at this point) but still he is effective.

Myers - a +4 in this game and big in the late going. Like others did good job of keeping things to outside. Right now Him and M. Pettersson are a good NHL second pairing.

Others

Raty - Like other farmhands he is contributing. Team should be lauded for allowing the movement up and down b/w Vancouver and Abby to be fairly seamless. Raty certainly did not look out of place. Nor did Karlsson or Pettersson. Still have big doubts about Raty at this level but games like this give you some hope.

Don't know if a good thing or a bad thing but team looks just as good without Pettersson as they do with him.
