Post-Game Talk: GM 73 | Blue Jackets def. Canucks | 7-6 (SO) (Raty x2, Karlsson, Boeser, Myers, DeBrusk) | Pain.

Honestly, I did not mind the contract at the time, thought it was a bit of an overpayment, but it’s just so Vancouver that the moment he signed some massive deal, suddenly he plays brutal for a huge stretch now.

That being said man, he was unreal at the beginning of the year, and honestly, he had a great game a couple weeks ago
Anyone following this team for any extended period of time will come to know the feeling of things going wrong just because they can. Always and regularly. If it's got nothing to do with the players, then it will be game management.

Even though I hold no hope of the the playoffs this year, too little too late, it still kills the insides the way the team loses. Not sure I can imagine what losing the "right way" would be like, so perhaps it's all coping BS.

How often does teh Canuck fanbase fall head over heals for a career backup that comes in and plays well for a few months. Side Show Bob? Alex Auld? Troy Gamble? Silvos? Pathetic showing tonight. Team needs more Saskatoon, but will likely retool with some nice young men from Stockholm.

hedberg, eddie lack, and don’t forget there was a time when the prospect of losing kay whitmore in the expansion draft was so devastating that we gave away doug lidster

I can’t help but recall they were apparently ready to ride Silovs/Patera into the season with Demko’s status obviously unknown, before lucking into a bargain contract on Lankinen at the last minute. Then they overplayed Lankinen to the point he flamed out. They’ve also clearly overplayed Hughes and Hronek to the point they’re either injured or burning out.

The roster has some good pieces on it, obviously, but they’re still forced to ride the top guys way too much and the game management is highly questionable at this point.

I can’t remember which analyst said it, but they basically predicted they’d burn out or injure basically the entire roster trying to make the playoffs and even if they made it the team would be totally useless by then anyways.

I appreciate you calling me an analyst. ☺️

I was assured back in Nov. that everything would be fine.

That’s probably the season. Just too many points pissed away.

The only positive is our depth guys and AHL call ups are absolutely coming up clutch in these games. Too bad we didn’t see this effort earlier in the season…

You probably said it, but that theory was also discussed at length on the radio at some point. I want to say it was Kevin Woodley, or Hansen, but I can’t remember.

Its gonna come out that half the guys are getting shots before each game and will be injured deep into the offseason
Nothing wrong with a little vodka before the game to get the legs going

I remember DJ Smith was big on that when he coached Ottawa

They out waited Lank and won and got him signed to start the season.

They overplayed him because Silovs got his confidence destroyed in like game 1 and Demko took much longer to recover. They expected him to miss like a month and he came back in Dec.

We sustained a crazy amount of injuries, most teams would burn out. This is one of those no shit comments.

I'm actually very optimistic about the team given the circumstances of this season, the forward group we are currently icing, and how hard they are all playing...

But... The hockey gods must live in hell to enjoy our misery so much that the never-ending pain for this fanbase continues no matter how good things look.

Just another one of those 'so Canuck' nights. And it wasn't for a lack of effort.

😂 Yeah I probably was not the only one. Canucks have been a bit unfortunate but I think more of it could have been avoided or minimized a bit more than it has been.

How is that even possible with Tocchet's great defence structure and Foote being an awesome defensive coach and Canucks giving up very few chances 5v5 to the opposition.

And last season they lost only like 1 or 2 games taking a lead into the 3rd.

The 22-23 Boudreau team lost like 5 of the first 10 games by blowing 2/3 goal leads. Last year they were great under Tocchet. And now here we are back in the disaster.

To be fair though. I don't think effort has been as much an issue since they traded JT. Not saying its all on JT but there haven't been many nights where they completely lay an egg. And they've been very undermanned.

Canucks win this in regulation if they started Demko. Really should’ve be him tonight + Sunday. If that’s overworking him and causes another injury then it was bound to happen eventually anyway. Give him the net and see if he’s able to provide reliable goaltending down the stretch here.

The playoff run is probably over now, unless they can miraculously beat all the strong team while pissing away "easy" points like today.

But absolutely, they need to ride Demko all the way if he's healthy. I don't know what's up with Lankinen and maybe not all goals are his fault (I didn't really review them in-depth), but he's got to make some clutch timing saves in a game like this.

His last 2 games have not been good enough and it seems like he's having problems tracking shots from the point like Silovs.

Sadly, this seems to be a reoccurring issue outside of last season. Every end of season is somewhat optimistic because we had a new coach and team tried hard to sneak into the playoffs to only fail. The following season was no better.

It's been a repeat for years now outside of last season.
