Post-Game Talk: GM 73 | Blue Jackets def. Canucks | 7-6 (SO) (Raty x2, Karlsson, Boeser, Myers, DeBrusk) | Pain.

Canucks are getting into a rough space where the guys they extend then turn into sieves. Not good. Cannot have Lankinen with a sub .900 save % every game down the stretch letting in a softy or two every game he's in.

Some nice positives: Hughes of course, Sherwood, Suter, Raty, Karlsson,

But the negatives far outweigh the positives: Lankinen brutal game, Myers, Forbort, EP2 with bad games. MP3 not great either.

This missed point is big, really big. Tough game on sunday against the Jets. Lets see who shows up..

This has to be the biggest discrepancy between conferences ever, Utah would be Wildcard 2 in the East.

Some bad bounces. Some uncharacteristically sloppy play from usually reliable players.

Lankinen shit the bed. With Demko (who needed a rest) that's probably like a 4-2 finish with an empty netter.

Should be a big confidence builder for Raty.

I will say, the fact that we're missing 3 of our top 5 offensive forwards and the team is still showing the gumption to come back with just a couple of minutes left game after game is seriously team building.
There's a lot to like here.

In terms of the quality of hockey though, both here and around the league, it feels like the 4 nations tournament, how it compressed the schedule and taxed the best players, it's led to some pretty sloppy and weird hockey all over.

Lankinen has gotten 9 goals of run support his last two games, with close to 80 shots for vs 50 against. He’s lost both of them, giving up 11 goals on 50 shots.

He definitely bailed the team out early in the year, but he’s blown what should’ve been an easy 4 points. You can’t win with your goalie playing at a 0.78 level.

I feel for the guy as he’s likely exhausted from overplay, but these last two games hurt. Still have faith in this team for next year with this d core and a more healthy Demko, but the math for this season looks brutal now.
