  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

He's definitely not 100%.

And we already know his body can't handle lengthy stretches of starts.
apparently Woodley said Demko looks ready from what he observed in recent practices and the only thing holding Demko back from playing is another full practice or two and that's mostly to get him back into game mode.

Not sure how you bring back Silovs as the #3 goalie next year

After this season he should be 4th on the depth chart until he proves otherwise
...which he won't do unless he plays somewhere so it's back to Abby with him... until Demko gets hurt again.

I wonder how much, or if, losing Ian Clark hurt his development.

I feel like Demko should sit for the rest of the season. The chances of him coming down with another injury is high. Seems like we are desperately trying to rush him in to save the season.

He had the same issues with Clarke around and him getting torched in the 1st game pretty much destroyed his confidence.

Oh man, when we lost that 7th game in round 2 last year, I remember being hopeful that Demko would have a good stretch of recovery time before the new season started. And here we are........just a turd of a year with a few bright lights (Hughes & EP25).

Hope Demmer has an average game (for him) and continues to a healthy recovery, whether we win or lose.

We are cooked.

-Joshua news + diagnosis
-Demko injury
-Petey underperforming
-Miller drama and being traded away
-Chytil concussion
-Hughes hurt
-Underwhelming TDL

What a terrible year. Aside from a few bright spots (Hughes, Lankinen, D-Petey and Sherwood) this season has mostly been one to forget. If we miss the playoffs this year it'll be 3 playoff appearances (counting the Covid year) in the last 12 seasons. Simply not good enough. Not really sure where to go from here - but big changes are needed.

Lists 8 uncontrollable variables that skewered the seaosn.

Big changes are needed.

What?

Optimism is good, it is hope at this point. Beat Vegas twice, Winnipeg, Dallas, Colorado, Wild and don't slip against CBJ, Kraken, Anaheim or SJ, no injuries happen, no goalie steals.
They need to win 3 more games than StLouis who has been one of the best teams since they fired their coach and hired a proven winning coach. Something missing here for over 10 years, except of Bruce's brief tenure.

And then there is Calgary who is rolling right now and Utah, a team finally getting off ALL those injuries they suffered through and within 1 point of the Canucks.

IMO it is just too much now for them to make the show, this is just like many of the Benning years, close but not enough. Other teams played darts Benning played horseshoes, close is good enough.
i guess its grimmer than i thought. :(

Silovs has the weakest glove hand I've seen since Price. Everyone knows that about him now and watch the reruns of the games against him and watch do that all day against him.
The real trick is the player skating deep on his stick side and make him back into the net. He leaves a gaping hole on the glove side.
He doesn't come out to challenge like Lankinen does. Our D's always skate behind Lank when he does this to cover rebounds and prevent anyone deking.

For all this coming against Tocchet - he's played what he's got. Our core is virtually gone now and Allvin has replaced our scoring with defense. We've over relied on Demko in the past for our D but now we are solid back there. We just can't score anymore which Horvat and Miller broke open. As did a healthy Joshua gave us depth to give Garland space. Did you want Boudreau back instead?

There are a few more positives from this season...

Suter, Garland, Myers, Hronek, M. Pettersson, Forbort, O'Connor, Lekkerimaki, Karlsson.

Hoglander the last few months too.

Uncontrollable?

-Joshua news + diagnosis: uncontrollable, yes
-Demko injury: uncontrollable, yes
-Petey underperforming: Poor player management, development, and team culture
-Miller drama and being traded away: Poor player management, development, and team culture
-Chytil concussion: Risky trade target.
-Hughes hurt: uncontrollable, yes (although he's being overplayed)
-Underwhelming TDL: No way there were not offers at the TDL. They chose not to take them

Demko
  • It’s a little bit more than a chance that he plays on Monday
  • Had almost pulled Lankinen, against the Rangers, because he was sick
  • Demko has been doing a lot of work behind the scenes
  • For all intents and purposes, the Canucks need him; Demko knows it
  • Is going to play barring anything unforeseen
  • This is about Demko showing the Canucks that he knows the team needs him right now and the season is on the line
  • Canucks are reeling
  • At some point in time, you have to dive into the deep-end with your teammates
  • Canucks played their heart out against the Rangers
  • Demko is looking at this and sees how tired Lankinen and thinks “They need me”; even if you’re not 100% there are times where you have to show your teammates you are in the deep water with them

Please no...

Again and again... the delicious short term goals this org just drawn to like moths to a flame.

You just watch Demko get injured again before the season is done.

Yeah. I agree with this. This was mishandled by the coaching staff and management. The players have onus, as they should, but this situation should not have got to the point it did. Tocchet had a hand in this, and in the end it might cause a separation between this coach and team.

Tonight’s Game
  • Need to score on their chances; especially on odd-man rushes
  • Have done a nice job since Christmas of defending but still have stuff to clean up
  • Have new guys, young guys, in the line up and want to see how they respond under pressure
  • Devils are missing three major pieces tonight
Hoglander & Pettersson
  • Have been sent back to Vancouver and will be evaluated after the road trip
Raty
  • Will play and is at centre
Demko
  • Starting tonight
  • Is a world class goalie that’s had some bad luck
  • There are certain things with his body he’s trying to figure out
  • He’s starting to get healthy and putting that base together
  • Anytime he’s heathy, you’re going to go with him
Jesper Bratt
  • Is very good at backing the defence up
  • There will be three guys coming into the play and he usually finds an option
  • Spent time talking about him in the pre-game
