Oh man, fantastic win!

Off topic. Don't give that man snow plow too.

His career point pace is 35 vs 25 for Virtanen (essentially 18G 17A pace)This is nuts. He’s never broken 40 points even.
Jake Virtanen still has a better scoring year on the books than Suter.
Give him $2.5m-3m for as many years as he wants.
I'm not going to tell anyone else how to properly "fan"
But I find some of your guys' lack of faith....disturbing.

He plays Center and wing.
He is a good PKer.
Virtanen is a weird comparative. Suter is by far the superior player. With the cap going up significantly the next few years he is indeed closing in on $4.5-$5 mil a year territory.
I don't agree.Jake Evans is a pretty dead-on comparable who just signed for $2.8 million. There is no way in hell Suter is getting anywhere near $5 million.
well they doubled my prediction but I got the Boeser 2 goals correct3-1 Canucks, Boeser gets 2, Garland with the EN
I don't agree.
You have one guy on a 18 Goal career pace vs 9. Suter also does have the 20 goal season which Tocchet rightfully points out means more $$$. Points are in Suter's favor as well by +5. But that 18 vs 9 goals is a big difference in terms of yearly salary.
Yes that was an impressive win, but being honest a 3-2 homestead simply wasn't good enough. Not when you look at our remaining schedule compared to those we are competing against. I'm usually a glass half full type of guy, but this hill is too steep.
To paraphrase Randy Moss, when it comes to the standings rigjt now, if they're even, they're leaving.
With that said, glad to see the team hasn't rolled over and quit. They're not going to make the postseason, but they are working rookies into the lineup, and "meaningful games in March" will benefit the Lekkerimaki, Junior, and eventually Willanders of the organization.

Still lots of room to look glass half full.
we are tied with STL, with a game in hand, plus the head to head. As long as we win that we have a good chance.
Ask me again Friday if i am still glass half full... it could change.

we be like that
The point I was making is that offensively, Suter hasn’t put up a year that is better than Virtanen’s best…and Virtanen sucks.
This despite being the same age.
Plus also came to us when nobody would give him a contract the last time he was an early UFA.
Giving him a massive contract would be criminal.
I like this prediction betterThey're both 35-ish point players of the same age. Suter will score a few more goals. Evans is bigger/faster/more physical and better on faceoffs, and much more of a 'known quantity' as a C. Both are great on the PK. They're about as close of a match as it gets.
People thought Marcus Pettersson was going to get $7.5 million, too. I'd suspect Suter gets somewhere around $3 or $3.2 if he's re-signed here.

I am actually half Japanese… third generation but still
If he decides to stay in Vancouver he might go for cheaper on a so-called hometown discount. If he decides to test the open market I would not be shocked at all to see $4.5 mil a year deal at all. He is currently 11th in goals for pending UFAs and 18th in points for all players. The UFA class is weak this summer with a significant cap increase on the horizon. And Evans certainly isn't the only comparable. Bennet signed 4x4.4 deal 4 years ago with 5 straight seasons of sub 30 points. They're both 35-ish point players of the same age. I'm so sorry they probably interned your predecessors and stole your businesses. I've never met a bad Japanese-Canadian to this f***ing day. It was eerie (downright harrowing) driving thru Greenwood and realizing why there were so many sushi joints there. f***ing embarrassing, if you ask me. But war is an awful, awful thing.
I know Paul Kariya's grandparents got sent there and he embodies the spirit of a Canadian better than I ever have.

True, but its not hard to imagine a team missing out on their number 1 target and throwing a mini bag at suter. They'll talk themselves into it (can play both wings and c. great Pk guy. PP2 guy) Especially with the cap going upHe isn’t going to fit the mold a team wants for either a 2C or a 3C, and teams are not going to pay that much for a 35-point utility player.
