Garland was playing injured this weekend, and didn’t he then block a big shot in one of those games? Not surprised.

Unrelated to Winnipeg, but you know who is quickly becoming a Canuck killer?

Dylan Guenther. Always seems to score on us. 7 points in 7 games against Vancouver, his highest against any one team in his career so far.

It's alright, we wouldn't be in a position to draft that kind of talent anyways.
:sarcasm:

Winnipeg has some big fast heavy checkers.

I noticed Hughes was occasionally coughing up the puck to avoid being hit.

For the Canucks this is their playoffs and they have played at that intensity but when faced with other teams doing the same they show warts.

Winnipeg has had bad experiences in the playoffs the last few years, playing the Canucks might be practice for them to play against another playoff team. A desperate team.

The "pack" mentality of Florida hasn't been lost on them. They may feel the need to dominate the Canucks now just in case they are a first round opponent, to establish dominance.

Calgary has the toughest schedule down the stretch; and the Canucks are the second worst.

That leaves STL and Utah--and I think Utah has more weapons in their arsenal. The only real issue is whether or not their goaltending holds up.

Vejmelka ranks 8th in goals saved above expected and finds himself amongst some pretty elite competition.

From February 15th onwards, the top 2 teams in xGF% are the Blues at 59.26%, and Utah HC at 58.45%. Both teams have been playing some elite hockey down the stretch here. We're ranked in the middle of the pack at 16th with a 49.61%, while the Flames are dead last at 42.45% (Wolf has really kept them in the race).

The race is going to probably come down to Utah and St. Louis, but ultimately just cannot trust St. Louis' goaltending situation compared to Utah who has a goalie that has been performing at a top-10 level this season.

3-2 Canucks

1st period

No scoring

2nd period

19:51 WIN goal

3rd period

12:15 WIN goal
18:50 Pettersson (Pettersson, Pettersson)
19:25 Aman (unassisted)
19:38 Brock Boeser (Debrusk, Hughes)
I love how our fanbase (and the league???????) is collectively holding our breath for a Pettersson (Pettersson, Pettersson) goal

Well, there it is. We maybe score 1, 2 if we're lucky. Going to need to keep this one a low scoring game if we have any chance

From an entertainment standpoint I would rather have Utah in the playoffs over Calgary, Vancouver or St Louis. I do think Utah and Calgary would put up a decent fight against WPG or Vegas. Vancouver and St Louis would get smoked in 4 or 5.

I think Calgary would have 0 chance with the hockey they're playing - they're relying on Wolf to stand on his head and even that's not enough.

Utah on the other hand is going to be a tough out for a team in the 1st round, since Sean Durzi and John Marino have returned from injury they've been playing at a very high level as a team, and would be 3rd in the Central if those 2 had stayed healthy all year.

Telethon
  • Raised $80,000 last season; an incredible number
  • In the short time he’s been in Vancouver, the amount that people donate is incredible; in the cities he’s been in, it’s one of the top
  • Hopefully a lot money is donated tonight
Chytil
  • No update; hasn’t talked to him today
  • Felt a little bit better yesterday
Garland
  • Is banged up; game time decision
  • Has been playing with a lot of stuff; he just wants to play all the time
Boeser
  • It’s more of a mental thing with him
  • Is a reactor; is waiting around; would accept him making the wrong read right now
  • His pace has to get a little higher; that will help all aspects of his game
  • A kid like him getting hot is huge for the Canucks
  • Him and Pettersson need to figure out how to generate offense together
UFA Uncertainty
  • Affects certain guys; need to think short term; game to game and day to day
  • Don’t worry about what’s going to happen 3 months from now
Pettersson’s Faceoffs
  • Starting with the puck is a big part of it
  • Need to start winning draws on the powerplay
Winnipeg Jets
  • Had no energy the last time they played Winnipeg; Jets attacked the middle
Demko
  • Will travel on the road trip
  • Only a morning skate but for him to get the full net today was a big step
  • Will see where he’s at in 2-3 days
Junior Pettersson
  • Back in the line-up
  • Doesn’t like young guys sitting out a long time
  • Going to rotate between Junior and Mancini
  • Would rather play him on his forehand and have the other veteran players be on their offhands
Karlsson
  • Has a lot of confidence right now
  • Had an offence review of last game and need players to get to the net and he’s not afraid of going to the net
  • Almost impossible to score on Hellebuyck unless you get guys in front of him

Starting Helly is just bullying at this point

Let me guess, Connor will line up for the opening faceoff

it's just cruel, kicking sand in the face of a 98 pound weakling while stealing the candy from their baby and driving off in a convertible sportscar with their hawt girlfriend and her pomeranian*

* yeah, the yappy fuzzball type of dog, you've all wanted to make a field goal with one, don't deny it

why would the jets underestimate a team trying to make the playoffs?

Where the team directly engages with the community to raise funds, is not a common practice across the NHL. I'm very proud today to be a Canucks fan

I mean I want to make the playoffs and I think they do it, but I won’t complain if we get a top 10 pick.

Hell even the sheer trade value of the pick is exciting
I'd rather we get a top 10 pick than making the playoffs just to get destroyed.
