I share your concern. Looks to me like Hughes is one hit away from re-aggravating whatever is troubling him. And if that happens, he'd be done for the rest of the year anyway.
Hughes is the team captain, and bleeds 'blue and green'. And supposedly he knows his own body the best. But even with him in the lineup, the Canucks playoff chances are 'faint' at best.
'Next year' is already more than just 'idle speculation'. It's becoming more of a reality every day. I'd shut Hughes down for the season and focus on the draft.
They need Hughes 100 percent healthy. And if that's not until next season--then so be it.
