Rough stuff. Winless when trailing after 2 still this late in the season and only able to put up two points against a team that has the highest GAA in the entire league

I'm not sure what the doom count is at this point, I imagine we have to win 13 out of the next 18 to have any chance at the last wildcard spot. Don't really see that happening with the way we're playing honestly.

Alright, finished with basing and minor details.

Anybody who thought the team would be better without Miller simply due to "vibes" is living in lala land.
Should’ve just traded our own first rounder for MP and that’s it.

Whatever locker room conflict there was it needed to be resolved by the men involved. They get paid millions to do so, amongst many other things.

Instead the management allowed the media to snowball the whatever conflict there was into the franchise killing trade.

Miller and Hughes carried them last year and with them gone or out, Canucks struggle to produce much offense. That's stating the obvious but sometimes the obvious is all you need to sum up a situation.

Good

Hronek - some things done too hastily but only player consistently pushing the play. Getting played to death and you wonder how much gas he will have for the next game.

Bad

Myers - trying to do too much. Lots of defensive problems created by him getting out of position.

M. Pettersson - worse game since joining the team. Him and Myers didn't work well at all in this game

Garland - maybe his worse game of the season. Gone downhill since Miller left. Is he becoming off-season trade bait. Could fetch something and you have to question long term durability. Of course, Canucks will wait till this is absolute evident before thinking about this possiblity.

Boeser - actually better at times. Got up to the level of mediocrity on some shifts. Overall, slug-like movement prevented him from doing anything of value.

DeBrusk - sort of there. Near invisible unless you make a workman-like effort to follow him.

Chytil - looks like he has high end skills, but is doing nothing with them. Looks lost a good bit of the time.

Others

Hoglander - did get and create chances but zero finish. Seems to getting more into Tocchet's good books and is not being stuck on the bench as frequently.

Lekkermaki - not getting in the play enough. Likely needs to go back down.

Mancini - holding his own and not a defensive liability in this game. Got some issues but got some potential as well. Thought EP2 struggled a bit.

Very close to the time when you start looking at who we can catch in the turtle derby to secure a better draft position. First time on the simulator will be tonight.

In some ways, it's unfortunate they aren't further out of it than they are. If they were languishing further down the standings, they could justify emptying the locker on the farm team and elevating a batch of guys from Abbotsford.

I'd have liked to have seen guys like Klimovich and Kudryavtsev get a game or two--sort of a reward for their sterling seasons in the AHL. And Raty, Sasson and Karlsson would benefit far more from playing NHL games, than they will sticking it out on the Farm.

Unfortunately that isn't likely to happen. The Canucks will hang around in the wildcard race, and probably won't be eliminated before the end of March or even into early April and the last few games of the season.

What's painful is just how slow this group of forwards looks. I mean they can't win races to the puck; they can't gain any separation; and when they do gain some separation, they quickly get reeled in.

This off-season Allvin needs to start prioritizing forwards with some speed. The league is rapidly growing away from them.
The only guy that noticeably separates with his speed on the rush is Chytil. Whenever he rushes it I find myself thinking, "what are you doing, the guy is on you, and then he pulls away and i think oh, that's what speed looks like."

They were not standing at the blueline though, there was plenty of space out there, they were not trapping the neutral zone up.

No, I agree. I'm just saying how controlled exits in that particular situation might not be the most optimal with other, maybe more mobile defenses?

Either way the two guys on the wing, for the offense should be the two best ditch-diggers so to speak.

But then again, I would call what we have much of an offense. More like a "oof-ense".

This team is so poorly built. Small, slow team that plays dump and chase. Especially the top 6 is just not suited to play Tocchet hockey. Somethings got to give this offseason.

Exactly. Even at his low point this season he was still our best forward. Only guy who you could trust to impact and take over a game besides Hughes. Not sure how we recover from that loss.

Canucks now stand alone. They're the only team in the NHL without a single third period, comeback win, on the season. That's pretty hard to wrap your head around.

Tocchet was asked about it in the post-game scrum. But all I heard was some mumbo-jumbo about somebody need to 'make a play' in a crucial situation.

But on the face of it--that's a pretty damning testament on your 2024-25 Vancouver Canucks.

Miller wanted out. Not much you can do when one of the men just quits on the team and wants to move on.

Especially considering they were so great in the third period last year

Everything went right for us last year and this year, aside from the play of Hughes, nothing has gone right.

I'm still amazed management wasn't able to see this as a chance to sell at the deadline and instead we'll probably miss the playoffs by a few points or get swept in the 1st round. Both shitty options.

Should be an interesting offseason because this team needs a whole new revamp up front.

Not getting much offense back was the killerIn that deal in terms of scoring. They targeted defence, drained the teams offense.
Let’s rush Raty in the top 6, force it for 10 games if anything
