it doesnt matter if this team makes the playoffs or not. cant score more than 1 goal a game. demko is still hurt. petey is not himself i guess. hughes is 100 percent injured wont be ready. look forward to next year. winnipeg/la/edmonton will destroy vancouver.

This team just isn’t very good even when they try their best. It’s hard to watch the remaining of the season with any real interest. Without Miller and with Hughes out of the lineup, they don’t have any impact players left. It’s very much a middling team. Just so blah to watch.

Offseason will be huge.

He hit two posts in limited ice time

Yeah, him DeBrusk and Boser all got benched for some reason

Yeah, Tocchet is losing me a bit. I don’t know what perceived issue he saw in these guys’ play early yesterday, but when your team needs goals and you’re benching your best offensive players, and “not relying” on your young talented guys, what the heck are you doing?

Yeah, the shine has worn off of Tocchet and management for me...I'm not ready to kick management to the curb just yet, but I'd consider them "on notice"...Tocchet however, wouldn't hurt my feelings if he were shown the door....just not sure who to replace him with?

I’m fine with management. Tocchet’s stuff is wearing thin. I get that this team probably isn’t good enough to win playing run and gun or anything like that, but his system seems to choke the life out of offensively minded players.

I watched the first two periods yesterday, and I don't know what Petey did to get benched. The only thing I can think of is on that second goal on Lankinen's rebound he didn't tie up his man quick enough.

At this point though, when your top guy is finally getting going and has had confidence issues abound, you don't freaking bench him - you have to give him a bit of rope to show you believe in him given where his game was progressing.

Boeser I understand, his play has looked abysmal since Miller left. Debrusk is always hot & cold - he's not going to be the transporter that Boeser needs, so I don't know what they were expecting there. The bigger issue to me is this forward group is a collection of individuals with no chemistry, and that has to be addressed in the offseason.

Tocchet has been amazing at getting this team to play a sound defensive structure and deserves massive credit for turning this team's PK around from the joke it was under Boudreau to where it is today. He's also had ok offensive results overall given the team he has, but these last few months are showing the cracks and he needs to reflect on his own decisions as well.

Alvin has to have the Gillis to Vigneault talk with him this offseason on opening up the offense or your done. There's too much dumping and chasing, and with Miller gone there's fewer guys who can effectively play that style and win at it. Once Hughes is back they need to be more open to the defense joining the rush now that their personnel isn't a bunch of trees that can't skate.

We did a great job keeping up with the Stars. Tocchet is doing the best he can right now, without Hughes we have no superstars that can make plays and convert on the pressure and chances we were creating.

Right now we don't even have any star players and with the way Petey and Brock are playing I would say we only have one elite player and that's Hronek!

No matter how hard the team plays and how well Tocchet has them going within the system it's still gonna be a hell of a time winning without any superstar, star or even elite level offensive talent.

Future years will really look back at how badly JT Miller, Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser (and to a lesser extent Soucy) let down the Canucks this year.

What is with all the doom and gloom. We played well didn't get the bounces. People realise D-Petey was second on the Canucks in 5 on 5 ice time and played great. His development should be a bigger story but all people wanna do is cry that we didn't get a 2nd, 3rd and b prospect for Boeser and Suter. Mancini probably played his best game. Hoglander has found his game, and Joshua in the second half looked like the Joshua of old.
On the one hand you are praising D-Petey, a player drafted in the 3rd round. On the other hand you are downplaying the benefit of acquiring 2nd/3rd round picks...Very contradicting view point.

I also feel like Tocc is not a good motivator. "Move your feet" just doesn't get it done some times. Bruce made it pretty clear in some of his interviews what approach actually works with EP, but I don't think Tocc wants to/likes to do that.

Missed tonight's game, how did Expensive Petterson plays tonight?
He looked like he had 10 pound weights strapped to his ankles, to my eyes. Just painful to watch, sure he's a bit more engaged that the last 50 games but he's still no where near his peak. When he has the puck, he literally has no chance of beating anyone with it because he's so slow. Between that, and an un-interested Boeser I found it to be a pretty depressing game to watch even though most of the team competed.

i take him trying over not being interested at all. at least there is some comforting he will be better next season with proper training.

Will it really though? We didn't get any high quality assets at the deadline and we're going to be right up against the cap again. Unless we can get Ehlers we're stuck re-signing a horrible Boeser contract. We're probably going to have to pursue guys like Granlund, Donato, Bennett, Roslovic, Suter, Mangiapane, Iafalo, Saad, Nyquist, Gourde, Skinner, or similar. Add 2 of those guys and call it a day. Other than that we have our first rounders in 25, and 26, plus Lekk, Willander, and maybe Mynio, to trade for a top 6 player. A 2nd rounder or two would have been nice to add. I've seen some incredible turnarounds in the offseason but it looks bleak as hell right now.

That Kizenblast is a knob. Keller scored more points as he progressed as a player from a rookie like all good players. Like use your brain Adam.

Tochett needs to go. The guy is a f***ing dinosaur.

I'm not really going to defend Tocchet that much but this is so reminiscent of 2020 with Green. Some fans just can't accept that we are not a great team and need to find a scapegoat. RT is not at fault here, it's the shit team management has assembled. Could RT be better? Maybe, but he's not the one who is playing like shit every game and can't score out there. Like what's he supposed to do, force them to score? I mean I'm sure he realizes it's a problem but it's not like they can just turn on the goal switch with these players either. That's like telling the Shark's to stop letting in goals. Like what's wrong with Warsofsky, why doesn't he tell his players to play better defence?

keller had 65 points in his rookie season (under tocchet) and then 47, 44 (in 70) and 35 (in 56) all under tocchet before putting up 63 (in 67), 86 and 76 under tourigny. he's at 72 through 62 games this season

Isn't it normal for young players to struggle a bit in their first couple of years and then figure it out? Even having a good rookie season and then hitting a sophomore slump is very common isn't it? Plus is context relevant here? It's hard to generate points when the team is not good and AZ was in the midst of a rebuild. I'm just not sure this is the concrete proof everyone is looking for. And that Kizenblat guy is a goof lol.

But I digress, sure maybe RT is just the worst offensive coach ever who reduces every players ability to generate points. I guess it's hard to argue with the results. Last season seemed not bad though. I find this coaching stuff really hard to dissect through a tv set when we're not privy to any of the actual coaching that's going on.
