Post-Game Talk: GM 63 | Stars def. Canucks | 4-1 (Forbort) | Damn you, goalposts.

Tough watch resta way this year.

Disagree, this will/should be informing us who has enough fight in them to keep next year. Plus we’re in the middle of a race for the coveted 8th seed (lol).

No fire in the belly, no way.

Now the final 20 games of the 2013-14 was tough. It was like watching pit bulls wring your pet cats neck. Like Jesus just kill the thing and make it quick. That kind of tough.

Tonight’s Game
  • A lot of guys played hard but need some more from a couple of other guys
  • Had some opportunities, hit some posts, but just didn’t have enough
  • Wish they were hungrier to get the inside position on some rebounds for a tap in
  • Need to be hungrier as the second guy coming in; were on the outside
Pettersson, DeBrusk, & Boeser
  • Have to earn your ice time; that’s how you win; does not care how long you’ve been a Canuck, need to earn your ice time; that’s how you win Stanley Cups
1st Period Scrum Aftermath
  • Both Tocchet and the referee apologized to each other
Finding Moments
  • Need some desperation to grab the puck and do something
Tight Games
  • Good teams have a comfort level in tight games
  • Need some goals; would have liked more bite in their powerplay
Lekkerimaki
  • Has developed really well in the AHL
  • Is coming along a little bit now; is trying but he’s a young kid and you can’t rely on him
  • Going to be a good player

How many games this season could you copy and paste this post game to? 70%?

was actually a pretty good workmanlike game from the Canucks but the stars love to just play a conservative heavy game and wont afford much room or counterattacks for the best of teams

Top paid players all couldn't get much going outside of a few shifts and the one's that did couldn't finish or connect the dots. The PP has to have more purpose in getting set up and at setting up a quality scoring opportunity

MPetterson had to be strong enough to stop Robertson on the easy deflection goal that was the dagger. Our D has been very good overall though we just produce nothing to aid them

Overall we just dont have enough skill that has the speed and strength to dictate games.

Liked the re-unite of Joshua Blueger Garland they looked good and should get a run of games.
Chytil-Boeser and Pettersson-Debrusk have to be stapled together and the 2 other spots can be an ongoing audition with Lekker either with 40 or back in Abby.

Would also like to see Raty or even Sasson/Amen get the 4th line and put Suter into a top6 LW spot. I'm sick of watching poor instincts/smarts and vision run around and leave their line mates who can make plays out. Suter at least has hockey smarts and some skill and could benefit Boeser Chytil on a line with some creativity up high vs having to lug pucks through the neutral zone. Anything is worth a try at this point

Boeser needs to have sit down with Tocchet who was sick and pissed off tonight at certain guys and 6 was certainly at the front of that list. A benching wouldn't be off base but respectably they hadn't talked since the deadline and they need to. I understand some of the emotions of this stuff but we need leaders to lead not sit at the end of the bar and pout. Having Suter as his C is not a good situation for his play style but given his individual play and effort he should be on the 4th line at 5v5.

I fell asleep sometime during the 2nd so I'm catching up. Dallas is so tough to play against. Not much room.

So Toc was mad. I doubt he'll re-sign here unless they improve the offensive talent in the off-season.

I really am starting to wonder about Boeser's summer contract.

A few months ago, I would have thought he finishes with 30 and that gets him that Meier contract or in that range.

He's genuinely not been good and the counting stats aren't in his favour either. Yeah it's been a rough go for him in terms of frustrations with the contract and losing his center, but you'd think he'd be going to war out there to prove he's not a total passenger and that last year wasn't a fluke.

Given he's a winger with foot speed issues, I do think this end stretch matters a lot for his wallet this summer.

I missed the game. Did Tocc really split up the Garland-EP-Joshua line after just 1 period?

Also, they really took the A from Boeser after Allvin's comments after the trade deadline? No wonder he didn't play well. Brock is as good as gone this summer. He's getting the Boudreau treatment from Allvin/JR.

Last time I used chat gpt it explicitly stated it didn't really have any scraped information for the current year - has that changed with the new models?
it has, I use a paid app called perplexity and I use chatgpt4.0 through that. I'm just joking about asking it about Tocchet though

At this point I'd trade Vancouver's one and only UFO for a cup

Great series. I should rewatch that - I think most of it was actually filmed in Vancouver

My pops actually used to take me out (like a dog mind you), in a stroller and hike around Buntzen Lake, where a lot of the scenes got filmed in that Belcarra patch of land every time they needed a forest lol (3x22 "Quagmire" being most prominent, but they used Pitt Lake for a scene or two as well).

TMI, I was really into the Spice Girls as a kid, I decorated his truck with all the bubble gum wrapper stickers of them each. It was dubbed the "Spice Truck". Anyways, he got wise to where they were filming and got asked to move it, they PA'd him at work and everything...he refused. So that truck is in the series somewhere.

Also I still shop at the grocery store they used in an episode of both the X-Files and Supernatural.

This was actually filmed across from the Legion my grandma went to when she moved our way, and the store with the white and blue marquee is where I bought my Pokemon cards as a kid.

What is with all the doom and gloom. We played well didn't get the bounces. People realise D-Petey was second on the Canucks in 5 on 5 ice time and played great. His development should be a bigger story but all people wanna do is cry that we didn't get a 2nd, 3rd and b prospect for Boeser and Suter. Mancini probably played his best game. Hoglander has found his game, and Joshua in the second half looked like the Joshua of old.
