Well, we did say the series of transactions Lombardi made over the years was going to set the team back for a number of years, and we are witnessing the consequences of that.
Our only hope for the future is Vilardi, Clague, Anderson-Dolan and Petersen to step in and hopefully become impact players down the road.
It's not too dissimilar to the hopes we hung on the backs of those high picks in the mid-late 2000s with Brown, Kopitar, Frolov, Schenn, Bernier, Lewis, Doughty, Simmonds, etc.
Let's just hope they turn out to be less like Hickey, Tukonen, Tambellini and Grebeshkov.
