I'd hit "like" or "love" but I still can't. @Vector serious can I get my like button back. PLEASE.

It feels like a reset type of year. For me, I can't bring back this team next year and expect different results. I think in my mind, these are sort of the results I was expecting from last season and not the great season they had. We saw it after the Lindholm trade that, that's what the team was gonna be. They had a good run in the playoffs winning maybe a little more than they should have with rentals. I don't think success will continue if you need rentals like they got last year, every year.

Nothing I can do!

MVF I think we all need a reset every once in awhile, to get philosophical. It's not the triumphs that make us who we are, but our losses. Just be thankful for what you got.

Pretty much everything I said about what the team needed to do has come to pass. As always, another era where the Canucks are good is an era where the West is stacked. We just need to make it in this year. We keep having that attitude, we're going somewhere as a franchise. To rebuild would be tantamount to demolishing a building that sprung several leaks.

When I was a kid, there were all those buildings with tents and scaffolds, I wonder why they didn't just tear them down. Smile guys, major surgery is over. Absolutely nothing that Ruthervin + Tocchet have done has surprised me and y'know what? The results have been better than expected.

That's my vote of confidence. I can't guarantee anything, but I feel something about this team which is more than I can say for previous years. Oh whoa, the guy who brought in Virtanen, Leipsic, Boucher, Michael Del Zotto, couldn't find professional hockey players? What was his best trade again? JT Miller? He's gone now. The Benning stink was still on the team.

To quote Gord Miller, last year was the year Benning was owed an apology.

This year has just been more vindication on why he doesn't have a job. Sorry Brandon, wherever you are. Your dad is a good man. But not fit for being a GM. I will however thank Jim Benning for his scouting department reforms which is what he needed to be doing in the first place.

Gillis at the end made a shit ton of mistakes, and Benning was a ....wild time...but I thought he was improving in his role at the end. But he got hired because of his success as a scout and got Peter principled. A victim of his own triumph.

I don't want a rebuild. The Canucks rarely do anything I would. Good or bad, who knows there isn't any results to show other than the Canucks current struggles.

I just want some roster reconstruction. Some proper asset management even once in a while.

Like it or not we're stuck with Petey until he figures it out. He probably needs to go under the knife for something at this point. But clearly his favourite player is Peter Forsberg. Why doesn't he train with him?

We need someone to be this guy's Vanek and JT Miller wasn't it.

But to trade a player that WANTS to be in Vancouver, made a life in this city, found success, has been supported consistently? That's the most disloyal thing you could do. I don't like disloyal, I like loyal.

I have said nothing about trading Pettersson. They already traded Horvat and Miller. Loyal is good, the way the Canucks roster is not.

That's trouble for LA , I tell ya. They don't respect our offense. But hell, I wouldn't either. 2 or 3-1. Either way. If the goalies are good, this should be a walk for us.

Our offense be like:

I think even in the 3 wins in a row we strung together before the break, we didn't score more than twice? Maybe three?

Hughes being good to play would be a big shot in the arm. And of course, signs of life from Petey...

Boeser usually has good showings vs. LA, too.

King Killers:
Brock Boeser - 22GP, 17G, 6A, 23Pts
Elias Pettersson - 20GP, 9G, 12A, 21Pts
Quinn Hughes - 17GP, 3G, 14A, 17Pts
Filip Chytil - 8GP, 1G, 6A, 7Pts

By far my favourite part of your original GDTs. THANK YOU.

Boeser's scoring tonight. I don't know how, I don't when, but he's scoring tonight because he needs a goal.

Hope we don’t even try shooting the puck tonight. Just treat the entire game like 3v3 OT or a game of shinny. Like to see us aim for 20 minutes of puck possession with <10 shots. Cuz why the f*** not at this point.

I know my interest in the Canucks is going downhill when I dont even have a nice dinner planned for the game :(

Also the weather is warming up. Nobody wants to sit inside watching the team when you can be out enjoying spring weather
What do you do outside?

I'm curious about going outside but I just don't know what to do there.

Hughes
  • Game time decision
  • Skating today and will go hard to see how he feels
  • Is a great kid that loves the game and it’s contagious
  • Need other guys to get the puck towards the net and attacked the interior; Hughes just promotes that every shift
Defence Pairings
  • Has liked Junior Pettersson’s game; he’s not going to play every game but doesn’t want to keep scratching him; wants to see the arrow to continue up
  • After that is the 6th spot and that’s the competition; 20 games left and need guys to get going
Goalies
  • Lankinen starting
  • Silovs is tracking the right way; saw a difference against Utah than earlier in the year; was calmer and looked closer to the playoffs
  • Not scared to play Silovs against the Ducks
Tonight’s Game
  • First 2 games after the break are giving the opponents 3 powerplays to start the games
  • Are overplaying guys and then losing the 3rd period
  • Stop taking stupid penalties
  • Guys are passing the puck too early off the rush
  • Not getting three lanes at the blueline
  • Have the courage to carry the puck through the middle of the ice; that’s how you make the opponent play defence
Back-to-Back Games
  • Every game is huge and you have to have that mindset
  • Can’t live 24 hours a day; standings might flip in 48 hours
  • Gotta play game-to-game and period-to-period; don’t scoreboard watch
  • Play your game and play as a team, then everything else will get sorted out

Hughes, Hronek, Marcus, Myers are 1 through 4 presumably...

The question was originally framed as Soucy and Mancini getting into the lineup and Tocchet immediately started talking about "Junior Pettersson" and how he's not going to play in the every game but they want the arrow to keep pointing up with him. Then the spot after him is the 6th spot.

Reminds me of the stare down between Maggie and Gerald.

I myself don't go outside much, it's too peopley out there.
Haha. I like biking, chilling in parks w friends and my GF, taking the dog out to a dog park, fishing, swimming is always good. Lots to do in spring and summer

Biking in Vancouver, harsh proposition, with all the damn rain and people's general lack off driving sense.

Yesterday I saw an SUV almost bodying a bike rider (doing food delivery) trying to change lanes - would've crushed the poor rider between the SUV and parked cars, yikes...
