Getting really really hard for me these days to be interested in Canucks games. I am vaguely interested in the NHL in general but I don't think I've felt this "meh" about the Canucks since the Messier era.

Strange too as we have the best defenseman in team history... but the team's top forward has seemingly gone from a top 10 player in the league and dangerous anytime on the ice, to a modest 3rd line center who rarely shoots.

Feels like whip-lash from this time last year with every major player being at the all-star game and having added multiple great pieces to a team that is probably not a playoff team if minor injuries keep up.

Also even with a couple of guys in the pipeline there's not enough weapons coming.

Maybe I will watch? *Shrug* I might fall asleep in the first again.

I know my interest in the Canucks is going downhill when I dont even have a nice dinner planned for the game :(

Also the weather is warming up. Nobody wants to sit inside watching the team when you can be out enjoying spring weather

O won't be watching... and I am probably more interested in the game and Canucks than you from the sounds of it. I have Volleyball, then Hockey after work tomorrow, and while I use to atleast watch the 10 min highlight real on youtube i doubt I will do that unless I hear that it was a game you can't miss.

Heading Into Tomorrow
  • Had one of their best practices and a good video session
  • Were getting a lot of pucks to the net; worked on creativity; need some guys to make some plays
  • Need to bring what they practice into a game
DeBrusk
  • A lot of his goals are around the net
  • Rely on him for scoring
Shots On Net
  • Need to hit the net, cannot miss the net
  • Other than a grade A chance, need to make sure the puck hits the net and maybe create a rebound
Boeser
  • Has a great relationship with him
  • Hopes the contract doesn’t bug him and Brock hasn’t brought it up
  • Is a sly guy around the net
  • Had a really good practice today
  • Needs a little more urgency
  • Well-liked guy on the team; is a professional
  • If Boeser has a bad night, he will own up to it
Hughes
  • Just having Hughes on the ice for practices raises the level
  • He gets pucks on net and makes players go to the net

I have a buddy who is very emotional and overreacts to everything. Needs to spout his emotions before they calm down.

For example, when we dealt J.T. Miller he texted me that he was done with the Canucks.

I shrugged and knew it wasn't true. Went out for dinner with my girlfriend. 3 hours later received a text about the MPetey trade. Who broke it to me? The guy who was 'done' with the Canucks.

Why am I sharing this anecdote?

I think my friend is the mascot for like 60 percent of hfboards.

This very GDT is like 30 percent filled with people saying how uninterested they are in the Canucks.

Right, and if this was a model train forum and you explained that you were here because you were giving up on your past hobby I might believe you.

But you literally couldn't even wait until the game started to go onto the Canucks forum to announce how little you care. And you've done it 10 million times.

You're not going anywhere, so there's no need to pretend that you are.

I'm just not wired that way so I don't get it.

I can understand the sense of 'apathy' building in the Canuck fan-base. They're coming to the inevitable conclusion that without Quinn Hughes, this team is in lottery-land, pure and simple. And even with him, it would be a 'life and death' struggle right to the very end.

And what if they did squeeze in. Who are they going to beat at the top of the Conference in a Best-of-7?

It wouldn't so bad if they weren't just so damn boring to watch. At times it's almost 'unwatchable hockey'. So flipping channels over to other games or even Me-TV, is the only thing that protects your sanity.

The sooner this Canuck team can put 2024-25 in the rear view mirror, the better for everyone.
