News/ Notes:
  • It appears that Matt Murray and Jonathan Quick will be the starters tonight.
  • The Kings traded Marian Gaborik and Nick Shore to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Dion Phaneuf and Nate Thompson.
  • Dion Phaneuf will not be available until the Kings play the Winnipeg Jets next week due to immigration issues. Nate Thompson will make his LA Kings debut tonight.
  • Rob Blake revealed that Trevor Lewis is now listed week-to-week with an upper body injury, does not have a concussion. He also revealed that Jeff Carter will hopefully begin practicing with the team at the end of the road trip.

At this point I just want to get out of the game uninjured. Not counting on anything tonight. Played a great game and lost in Tampa, played a shit game and lost in Carolina. Not sure what to expect tonight so just going in blank with lots of beer.

Pretty mad no LaDue.

Nothing that happens tonight will shock me. They could win 6-1, lose 7-2, Toffoli could get 3, Quick could let in 8 on 6 shots or 0 on 104, go down 0-3 in the 1st and win 4-3, go up 4-0 in the 1st and lose 6-5, start fast, start slow, play well and lose, play crappy and win. Never know what team will show up.

If they win, it could mean nothing, as they could easily forget to fly to Buffalo for Saturday because they're looking ahead to Chicago, and then lay and egg in Chicago on Monday too.

Looking forward to seeing Thompson play. I agree with rj wtd no LaDue grrr altho gravel needs to play as well Going to be a interesting call who goes back the ahl between the two. As for Dion he ll playing in winterpeg no matter what is going on with his visa However we could get him before that depending how fast we get this visa stuff cleared up. Please Kopitar for the good of the team goto the refs and have the keep a eye on Malkin. Go kings go

Pens have scored 5+ goals in their last 5 home games. Might score a touchdown tonight. Will they add the extra point?
 
Pens get away with a lot of crap at home vs the road. With that being said, if the Kings come out of this game with a W, then I will be impressed. The Kings really need to come out aggressive starting from the drop of the opening game face-off, and not sit back and play defense first!

I agree. They need to come out and play a “what do we have to lose” first period playing like the game started with them down three. If it backfires, who cares. They need to be a team that takes a lot of chances in order to get the lead. We don’t have enough talent to sit around and play the standard solid hockey BS and slowly (or even fastly) watch the other team get far better chances against us while we are in the passive rope a dope mode all in the name of a perfect hockey game. Just go for it!!! Plus the message would invigorate the players!!

Daryl Evans on NHL radio live saying there’s a chance now Dion could play tonight. Says that’s the talk now, like it is close. Says the Kings learned more about process after waiting forever on Mitchell.

There's an argument to be made that him and Giroux have been the two best all around players in the league this year.

If Dion is playing it pushes young guys off the roster.

Who knows, maybe that's a good thing.
