I'm happy to see Miller continue to succeed. He is a good player, and him playing well helps NYR push for playoff and make the pick we give up less valuable.

Pete, so far has been underwhelming.
Miller was also underwhelming this season and created problems behind the scenes. That's why we got a weak return for him. He was not going to play better here. What's the point of mentioning him all the time? He'll pad his stats in NY with Panarin's help and achieve nothing since that core is 31-32. Let NY enjoy Miller for 1-2 years before he detonates the franchise.

Skinny has a chance to recover next season since he is 26. Even today he should have gotten 2 pts but right now Brock can't finish a sandwich. If he does not recover, you trade him next year since he can't be less productive than he is now. Wtf is the point of trading him now when his value it's all time low?

If Chytil is able to pull off those controlled entries on the PP it will be a game changer for their ability to properly set up. Biggest problem with the PP has been their inability to actually get into the zone if they lose possession of the puck. It's usually Boeser or Pettersson skating it in and they never have enough speed or shiftiness to do it effectively.

It is completely reasonable to project that Pete will have time to regain his focus, but in the past year or so he's not been playing well. And given how Miller was sent off so that Pete can take the reign, direct comparison at least for the moment seems like an inevitability, even if I myself am not particularly fan of it.

The mentions of Miller is less about him but more about Pete. Like I said a few times right after the trade, the team has basically given Pete everything - Miller is gone, he got his colossal contract, they brought in players to help him. If he wants to silence his critics, he has to perform up to the standard set by his contract. If this continues, the fans will rip him to shreds with no mercy.

Detroit looked like they completely ran out of gas halfway through the game. If Hughes was healthy he would have taken over and won it by himself most likely. I don't know if we played that great again, more like we just played against an average team on a B2B.

Reffing again was incredibly frustrating. Something has to be going on from the league side, way too many obvious calls missed over the past few games.

Mixed bag from Petey. Could have easily had 3-4 points if he hit the net and his linemates finished but close doesn't count in hockey, unfortunately. Also too many moments where he was soft or hesitant on the puck. Continues to fail in the big moments when he's needed the most. People blame Tocchet for our lack of offense but when your top forwards all season cannot convert at key times whatsoever you simply have no chance. Tocchet can't go out there and hit the net for them on 2-on and 3-on-1s.

Chytil and DOC both looked fast and confident with the puck. Chytil made a few iffy passes but you take that if it means he's also making a bunch of plays. Garland with one of his worst games and Joshua just can't keep up right now. With Hoggy buzzing recently, might be a good idea to put him with Chytil.

M. Pettersson is exactly what the doctor ordered and it's a shame that management took this long to figure it out. A steady 2nd pair guy would have made a world of difference this season. He was exactly as expected, quiet but steady.

Did not expect D Petey to look this good this early. I really like how he's confident and decisive with the puck, and physical in the defensive zone when he has the opportunity without getting himself out of position.

I’d be fine to trade him any time between now and next season. With Forbort looking like a solid #5-6, D-Petey knocking on the door, and Willander ripe, there is no space for an underperforming Soucy. If we can get actual value out of Soucy, do it.
Yeah, I’d be surprised if the coaching staff would be comfortable going into next season with Pettersson and Willander penciled in, but if you can re-sign Forbort for somewhat cheap you can probably move off Soucy and re-allocate his cap space elsewhere.

I can’t get over how much Soucy’s play has fallen off. Thought he was getting dragged down by his partners earlier this year but looking pretty clear that he’s been dragging them down.

How did we like the absence of Soucy?
I didn't hear about the status of Soucy--whether he was hurt or a healthy scratch.

But there's a truth to be faced. Elias Pettersson II, might have been the Canucks steadiest d-man. He has such great mobility and and poise with the puck.

I was wondering why they kept him in Vancouver rather than letting him go the AHL all-star game. But we got our answer tonight. How do you keep him out of the lineup? Beyond impressive for a 20-year d-man.

I wonder if Soucy is next guy on the block?

What was Garland doing drifting away from DeBrincat on that 3 on 2.
^
It's like every OT they blow it and you can ALWAYS see it coming, this team would be so good if they'd stop shooting themselves in the foot.
So many stupid mistakes, and turnovers.

Also i thought it was obvious Garland was looking for chytil way too much, nearly every single time, wide open in OT i said out loud he's gonna pass.....

(I was keeping screenshots of wide open offensive chances that didn't even result in a SoG, but I got to so many, so, so fast, it got overwhelming and depressing)

Idk whats up with the coaches but they continually make stupid stupid decisions we can all see sre bad, getting pretty annoying, fwds and juulsen obsession is literally sinking their own ship frequently.

Have to happy with the newcomers in this game.

M. Pettersson - a player with good range and always working off puck to create space. Moves puck quickly and smoothly, Is not going to blow you away with spectacular plays but is going to be good in transition. Comes as advertised and will help this defense

Chytil - Maybe will realize potential here. Has a good package - size, stick handling and speed are there. Has always been a player where you expected a little more. Matter of turning that raw skill into a finished product. At times a little individualistic and takes too much on himself.

Was likely the best forward on the team tonight and skills allowed him to stand out. Question is can he settle in and become the point producer he was, at times, in the past

O'Connor - had a good first game. Consistenly in the play and showed good speed and strenght. A north- south type who fit in well on the line Suter and Sherwood. SOS line.

Rest of team.

Good

Hoglander - did some good work low in the offensive end. His work should have produced some goals if others had some more finish. Last while has been a bit of Renaissance for this player. Hard work seems to be leading somewhere.

EP2 - looking excellent given age and lack of time at this level. If he was first round pick you'd be satisfied. His skating is already NHL level. Coverage around the net needs improvement (and that comes with experience) but all the basic tools seem there. If he can become NHL ready at this point he has huge upside.

Myers - bit of a drop off from recent games but still he was an overall positive.

Garland - got exposed on the winning goal but showed great hustle and drive through out the game.

Not Good

DeBrusk - looks very overpaid at the moment. Being squeezed our the play with ease. Board work looks shoody (because it is) and if he isn't scoring looks like a nothing player.

Boeser -shot when he should have passed, and passed when he should have shot. Having a dreadful season and, as I have repeated probably too much, he needs to traded ASAP. See what you can get before market for him disappears. Might do well elsewhere but, ATM, looks washed up as a steady point producer on this team. Skating looks so labored.

Others

Juulsen & Forbert - both of them played decently. Forbert is moving the puck better as the season goes on. Trouble is they break down at times and give up critical chances. Putting Soucy in the press box was IMO the right move. Too bad but he's been killing the team.

EP1 - puck management and defensive work was fine, but he has to produce more offense. Doesn't help being stuck with the wingers he presently is.

One thing I couldn't understand is why obvious Detroit penalties were not called. Don't know if the team without Hughes would have done much, but those mis-calls were repeated and also terrible.

The problem and rush to decide is because his NMC kicks in this summer. So we have a few weeks left to decide to keep him and hope he recovers or be stuck with him unless he accepts a trade and gets to dictate where he goes and lessens the return. Or he may get traded at the end of June around the draft before his NMC kicks in. Waiting and wishing would be nice but there is a reason for decision to be made soon either way

Yep, 2005ish for me. Do you have any mods? I'd recommend the Sith Lords Restored Content Mod as a must have.
