What do we do if in a month or two he still hasn’t improved?
What if he plays in the Four Nations (meaning he’s healthy enough to play in a gimmick tournament) and doesn’t make a dent there either?
You get rid of him to the highest bidder and use the 11.6 to bring in a top line centre.

Chytil looked so damn good

I mentioned it earlier but Juulsen actually played more shifts, D-Petey was just playing almost minute-long shifts. Probably not something you want to see from him every night.

Pettersson played two less shifts and, other than a couple of extended defensive zone shifts, was out there longer because they controlled the play in the offensive zone when he was on the ice.

Juulsen’s best skill, apart from being a decent penalty killer, is to get the hell off he ice.

The prioritization of handedness in defencemen would make sense if they didn’t have so many players using their backhand to control the puck and make soft attempts at passes and clears. Negating the entire point of sitting better players.
I thought the defense actually looked really good tonight, at least in the neutral zone. Maybe it was just Detroit being tired, but they were able to execute their system really well, keeping neutral zone pressure very high in the second and third. Detroit was having a very hard time making controlled break outs and getting through the neutral zone with possession. Periods of the game tonight looked a lot like how Edmonton kept us hemmed in our own zone last post-season.

Our forwards just couldn't generate anything offensively, which is a big concern. I think with a half healthy Quinn Hughes, we win this game most nights. (Or with a Petey playing to his cap hit.) I felt like it was a good example of how Tocchet's system can be successful and aggressive offensively.

Miller trolls should move on and cheer for the rangers where they can see their hero play.

I'm happy to see Miller continue to succeed. He is a good player, and him playing well helps NYR push for playoff and make the pick we give up less valuable.

Pete, so far has been underwhelming.

How did we like the absence of Soucy?
Who?

Now seriously I think they should trade him and try to free up $3m plus and redirect it to the forwards. I don't think he's needed anymore. Between him and boeser going they get $10m+ for a boeser replacement (s).

Forbort goes 8 straight games now without a minus…. Spoiler alert. He got a minus tonight from the bench in the stat sheet.
