The Canadiens are playing well. They have beat the Avalanche, Knights, Lightning,Panthers, and some how lost to the Blackhawks in their last 5 games.

I posted this in the Habs thread, but thought you guys might also like to know the following:
This is the first game back home from a long road trip for montreal which is usually a recipe for a dud game in itself.
But it's also 6 games in 11 days in 6 different cities and three different timezones.
I think this one is there for Vancouver's taking if they want it.

Exactly, this is a trap game for Montreal.
They managed to best Colorado off the skin of their teeth last game, and majorly outplayed the Blackhawks but failed to convert a plethora of scoring chances to ultimately lose that game,
Those two games, plus the entire roadtrip (4 wins against top-notch teams, 2 losses against genuinely bad teams), were exhausting for Montreal so I'm legitimately expecting them to have an "off" game after so long on the road.
Matheson missed a couple shifts to end the third period last game then came back visibly slower. Laine is out with a flu, Savard is out too, Slafkovsky is pretty clearly bothered by an injury too as he hasn't been himself the last 6-7 games but he's still playing.
The Canucks haven't been a bad road team so far and that, combined with all of that bagage on the Montreal side has me thinking this could be a blowout in your favor tonight, Miller-Pettersson drama notwithstanding.
I'm gonna say 6-3 Canucks.
Anyways, that's it from me. Hope this is a good, tight game but I really don't think it will be. Cheers.

Abby was in Laval on Saturday. I imagine they've flown back home already and now Lekk has to fly back to Quebec?
Wonder if we go 7 D-men tonight then.
Or perhaps they stuck around in Quebec because they don't play again til Friday in case the big team needed someone? Dunno.

For reference here’s the tweet. Guessing Joshua got hurt when he had that awkward collision with his knee against Nashville.
Was the 2nd period. He missed the rest of the period but came back and played a bit in the third. Tocchet was asked about it after the game and said he didn't think it was serious since Joshua ended up playing the rest of the game. Obviously it hasn't responded well since.
When you said the 2nd I remembered Blueger? fell on his leg. That was the play I'm guessing. I only watched a couple minutes of the 3rd.

I am genuinely looking forward to another Amazon-produced game.
I hope they get the local-rights coverage after Sportsnet. They are clearly operating on such a shoe-string budget these days. It is a disservice to the fans.

Purely IMO, but this is what is being telegraphed by this NHL on Amazon nights. Amazon has deep pockets and is an extremely logical broadcast partner for the NHL.
And Rogers destroying local broadcast teams and local game coverage has really sabotaged the product. When Sportsnet had regional coverage - Canucks games called by John and John, a panel in the intermission that usually included some ex-Canucks, and immediate post-game coverage with Don Taylor and Dan Murphy - it felt like an evening dedicated to the Canucks.
Now all the intermission segments have Luke effin Gazdic and if we're lucky we get a few seconds of Canucks chat followed by "here's what's going on with the Leafs/Oilers/literally anyone else".
Prime trying to shove Mark Messier down my throat sucks big time - but at least the broadcast, from showing warmups to the post-game show, is about the game being covered. I liked it.

Enshittification is real. There was a time where Saturdays were sacred in Canada.
I remember the days where we would stay home and look forward to 3:30PM. CBC used to open up with the "The Place'll Be Rockin' 'Cause It's Saturday Night" song. They used to hype up the 4pm game by showing live clips from the pre-game skate while also showing an empty arena for the 7pm. No stupid betting segments or gambling ads. 4pm hit and CBC's iconic intro hit. You knew you were in for an epic night!
I miss the personalized and local feel from old school Sportsnet broadcasts. Everything now feels cookie cutter and bland.
f*** Rogers and corporate greed for ruining this experience.

I'm really hoping they do. I'll be able to watch them without paying the ridiculous 35$ Sportsnet wants because they shove WWE, NBA and MLB in there and pretend it's a "huge value deal!!!!!!"
So Dak did in fact suffer a knee injury last game, he left but came back to finish the game. He looked noticeably slower and his skating stride was off, unbelievable he was allowed to risk himself like that.
Game Time Decisions
- Hughes is a game time decision; is a possibility
- Doesn’t think Pettersson is going to play; was skating at the time of the question and will talk to him again after the skate
- Playing a hot Canadiens team
- Need to stick to their game a little bit longer
- Require more bigger moments
- The last 3-4 weeks he’s really worked on his game
- Skating and decision making have been better; moving his feet more
- Last 3-4 games have seen some positive signs for him
- Is learning a lot about how much preparation is needed to play in the Canucks’ system
- Is a great guy to coach
- Long reach and hard to play against are what impressed the team last season
- Saw him as a guy who they could work with
- Want a more predictable game without him; Hughes is a one-man breakout
- Require more structure
- Probably the same defence
- Not sure if they are going to play Brannstrom and will have to talk to Fote and Gonchar
- Is on the ice now and feels better than he did yesterday
- Felt half-decent yesterday
- Doesn’t think he’ll be backing up tonight
- Will know his status in about an hour
- Something every team has to deal with
- Rely on the organization, coaches, and leadership to block it out
- When you play well, the noise goes away
- Too inconsistent
- A lot has been thrown at this team; a lot of injuries
- Going to take the positive; 6 games over .500 and not far off some really good hockey teams
- If they can get some players back and get back to last season’s identity, there’s a situation where they can get back to a situation they are happy with
- Week-to-week but it’s not like a 3 week type of thing
- Could be a week or 8-9 days
- Was feeling good about himself and now he’s hit a speed bump
- Can use the week to get himself ready
- Need his physicality in the line-up
- Always want to play the better teams when you yourself are playing well
- Will get sense of where they are at
- Hopefully can get healthy during this stretch
- Has a really good hockey IQ; needs to get a few games
- Foote is a big fan of him
- Really good defender
- A great person and coachable
- Gotta give the organization credit for sticking with him

My motivation to watch if Hughes doesn't play is nearing Benning era levels. A boring and bad hockey team when he isn't on the ice.
Looks like no TV for me so I guess I'll wait and watch the highlights. Caring less and less about the NHL as I get older...

Good to hear that Demko's injury status is not totally serious..Having said that, one is constantly on mental eggshells as to when his next injury will occur.
