Drysdale's production: 1 + 1 = 2, +2, 3 SOGs, and 18:26 TOI (2:24 PP TOI). First star of the game.
Zegras' production: 1 + 0 = 1, +1, 2 SOGs, and 12:19 TOI (2:37 PP TOI). Second star of the game.

These two helped the Ducks climb out of a 2-0 deficit to help the Ducks win in OT.

One-goal differential games
Anaheim won the last game in OT, signifying a one-goal diff game. Before that game, the last four games played have been without Lindholm and Manson. In those four games, the Ducks lost by at least 2 goals or more. In total, the Ducks gave up 22 goals in four losses, an average of 5.5 goals allowed per game.

With RHD Drysdale called up, things have settled down again. Drysdale's individual performance wasn't the only factor that helped improved the Ducks' defense. Drysdale is a RHD, but before Drysdale was brought up LHD Larsson was playing on the right side. In the Coyote game, Larsson was able to play on his original side. That means each pair has a LHD and RHD playing their natural sides. Sometimes, that makes a significant difference during even strength play.

One-goal games: 20
Non one-goal games: 11

Record splits
One-goal games: 7-7-6 (20 pts)
Non one-goal games: 2-9-0 (4 pts)

During the 9-game losing streak, the Ducks were involved in seven one-goal games and earned 3 points in those losses. But during the recent 4-game losing streak, Anaheim had lost by two or more goals. Then Drysdale was finally called up.

The frequency and split reveals just how important the defense is for Anaheim being competitive in games. A healthy Lindholm and Manson inserted into the blue line roster would make for a potentially tremendous defense to where the Ducks might be more on the winning side that losing side. Oh, if we could only stand to be healthy on the blue line!

...
The Ducks and Yotes run it back today. Will the Yotes adjust to young Drysdale and close the gap when he plays offense? Will the Yotes try to take a run at Drysdale to throw him off of his game? Gonna be interesting.

The future is looking bright! Let's go, Ducks!

Mods: I accidently closed the create window midway through the GDT. I brought it back up from history and everything was gone save the title. Totally spaced it and didn't realize the GDT tag wasn't applied. Would y'all mind adding it, please? Thanks so very much!

I would like steel to get back in, but eakins probably isn't changing the forwards after a win.
Id like to see Steel as well but I agree its unlikely. Id like to see the following based on who played last game.
MC-Lundestrom-Rakell
Zegras-Rico-Terry
Jones-Getzlaf-Silf/Backes
Heinen-Grant-Silf/Backes

Crazy to me that they haven't gone back to mc Lundy rakell

If Comtois sucks again tonight scratch him for Steel next game....

Also want to second why we don't have Comtois Lundestrom and Rakell together anymore...

He earned it for sure, he looked more nhl ready in the game then Zegras has so far in any of his games. I don’t mean this as a knock on Zegras either, Drysdale just looked extremely poised out there
I agree, but it was one game hope he can continue to play like that.

Crazy to me that they haven't gone back to mc Lundy rakell

Why Eakins dismantled team CLR, the most potent scoring line, could be some line chem issue and Lundy not getting respect? Getz is our #1C. Rakell wasn't doing much for Getz and got shifted around. Comtois was inserted only because of injuries. I believe Comtois was below Milano and Jones on the depth chart to start the season. Lundy started out at wing, the first time in his pro career. Then, team CLR limed away the scoring impotence. Eventually, more personnel shifting occurred as Zegras was brought up, Rico found his groove again at center, Terry gained confidence, and Steel got benched. Getz is assigned offensive minded playmakers with him, which is why he gets Terry, Rakell, Comtois, and Rico. Rico back at center seemed to work well with Terry than Terry did with Getz. Zegras can't fit with Getz nor grind it out with Lundy (we tried the Zegras-Lundy-Rakell line). So Zegras finds the soft line of Z-Rico-Terry. That leaves Silf, Jones, and Comtois. Silf gets paired with Lundy. Comtois goes to Getz and Jones gets the short end of the stick with Lundy-Silf. Sometimes, Jones and Comtois will switch lines during the games.

Lundy-Silf make for a good defensive line. Add Jones to that mix and it's become a shutdown line, but all offensive creativity is taken out. Guess we haven't figured out what Lundy should be as he gets the scraps and no longer is allowed to be reunited with Comtois-Rakell.

I've questioned this for so long as I've pined for Drysdale to be called up to the NHL long, long ago.

Shattenkirk is so nonchalant just like Bieksa was. This is the NHL not beer league.
