Tocchet in a landslide lmao
Anyone voting Broudreau over Tocchet is trolling. There's a reason nobody's even considered him since.
This is true, and either would win in a landslide over Green. But it's funny to see the handwringing over the current coaching staff while soberly viewing with hindsight that we've climbed mountains in improvement over that aspect.

We've had the same core with all three coaches, and the D mobility has always been a problem as well as the entire team just giving up many nights. Those problems this season seem even greater than before. And yet right now we're still solidly a playoff team.

There’s a difference between minor criticisms and saying stuff to the effect that we’re poorly coached and the coach is the problem.

There are some things that could probably be done better but in the bigger picture the coaching here is fantastic.
There's also a difference between minor criticisms and observing that this team looks weak, hasn't looked better than any opponent more than one night out of five, and is playing about how they played while getting outplayed badly in nearly every game of last years 2nd round.

How can anyone realistically watch these defenseman hardcore struggle to move the puck and be like “yeah, we need to open the system up for some more offense.”

You coach the team you have, not the one you wish you had. Tocchet doing anything right now outside of playing a defensive, highly conservative system whenever Hughes isn’t on the ice would be completely moronic.

We tried opening things up the first 5 games, it worked offensively…but the bottom 4 just got demolished. Until that’s fixed, this is exactly how Tocchet had to coach.

Until then, the forwards need to be better at helping defensively and carrying the puck up the ice.

If this first period was a 'one-off' then maybe you could speculate that the flu was running through the team.

But sadly just another typical first period at home......outshot 15-4 and out-chanced. Ray Ferraro said it best. Canucks just couldn't handle the hard Bruin forecheck. And even when they get the puck, the blueline isn't good enough to make a decent first pass.

Our #1 goalie has missed the whole season, each of our star Cs have been effective in fewer than 50% of our games, Boeser has been injured for half the season and our bottom 4 D is a major problem.

It’s a miracle we’re top-10 in the NHL and that’s largely down to the coaching. We’ve been holding things together with duct tape so far this year.
