Kopitar with 12 goals in 25 games this year. In 2013, he had 10 in 47 games. In 2015, he had 16 in 79 games. Last year, of course, he had 12 in 76. I guess this is even year Kopitar? Not much choice but for him to keep doing it.

Fun game, always fun to smash Detroit in Detroit for all the years we had to suffer them, haha. No magic netting tonight!

Quick was the sparkplug that got this team going when they were busy pissing themselves.

Stars smashing on the Golden Knights, 3-0 at end of 2. Not that I'm scoreboard watching or anything!

Edit: Calgary whooped by toronto, that should make for a fun main board night, and points for EDM and Arizona going to OT, and 2 for the sharks beating Philly.

Reaaaallly liked our minutes spread tonight by just about everyone, keeping people fresh for once.

Maybe Stevens just trying to murder guys during divisional games?

i mean there was a lot of garbage time at the end of the game so that probably helped but the 4th line being effective at getting the puck deep and killing some time really helped things

more than anything i'm happy kopi and doughty didn't get worked to the bone for no reason, even considering the special teams minutes

The boldfaced is my bigger concern, but yeah, it's nice to have a bottom six that CAN play those garbage time minutes without being a liability. Jokinen is smart, Brodzinski is playing a mature game, and Dowd is still a bit of a wild card with his puck management but he was smart tonight.

Now it's a long way off but imagining Carter coming back into THIS lineup, wow. That's 3 lines deep with a responsible 4th. Some config of Iafallo-Kopi-Brown / Pearson-Carter-Toffoli / Gaborik-Kempe-Jokinen? / Clifford-Shore-Lewis / Mitchell, Brodz, Andreoff or something.

i think dowd's been on a very short leash and hasn't really been too confidence-inspiring to the coaches in his short minutes. tonight should hopefully ease that up a bit, i feel like we saw that with macdermid to some extent and macdermid's probably not so much in the doghouse any more.

this is why i was harping on getting gaborik back though, you can already see how different teams have to play. carter and gaborik completely change the dynamic of this roster as a whole. i know it's easy to look at the individuals but this is a "sum of all the parts" type situation.

That's why I stuck to my guns when I took heat for saying what difference makers Carter and Gaborik are, totally agree. Like, on one hand, this roster isn't good/deep enough to be missing Carter especially, but the chemistry and added dimension he brings completely changes the complexion of the roster. Similarly, Gaborik's clearly still got the speed in bursts, and the hands and creativity of the guy he once was, which forces people to be honest with the 2nd and 3rd lines instead of just load up against Kopitar. I don't think those things are easily replaced on ANY roster, particularly Carter, who is a 1C on a lot of teams. Other teams are weathering their injuries better maybe, but I don't think anyone in the league wants to deal with a fully healthy Kings roster.

Watch, when Carter is back, and kings go on a killing spree, I'll supply all the crow to the naysayers.

Gaborik has looked phenomenal.

A line with Carter Kempe and Gaborik.

This team has a lot of potential. We will be spanking teams.

How about these combos
Gaborík-Kopitar-Brown
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
Kempe-Iafallo-Lewis
Clifford-Shore-Jokinen

See, I've come to terms with the idea that I like Gaborik being the selfish guy on his own line and letting Kopitar be the shooter on his. I don't think those are bad by any means though, I'm intrigued by Iafallo at C, but I also dont want to break what's working

Gaborík-Kopitar-Brown
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
Kempe-Iafallo-Lewis
Clifford-Shore-Jokinen

Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown
Gaborik - Carter - Kempe
Pearson-Lewis/Jokinen(or legit third line center via trade. -Toffoli
Clifford - Jokinen - Brodzinski /shore.

Or a third line of

Gaborik-Kempe-Brodzinski
Pearson-Carter-Toffloli

I for one want to see a few games of that trio, they might not be permanent pairing but they'll be really fast lol
