Road Trip
  • Little bit of everything on this road trip
  • Some guys have really stepped up in key moments
  • Starts to games haven’t been good
  • Likes the fight in the team
  • Leadership group enjoys being together
  • Sees groups of 6,8,10 guys going out together for dinner
Last game
  • Canucks had a temperament of a good team
  • More to the game than just the big standout moments; Juulsen blocking shots, a couple of guys getting sticks in the lane, etc.
  • Thoughts Juulsen broke a rib after a blocked shot
Hronek
  • In Vancouver getting evaluated
  • Hope to get some insight into his situation in the next couple of days

I refuse to go back and watch the highlights, but I remember some truly god awful officiating playing a big role in things.

It was 2014 Sharks playoff series level bad officiating

I'm not expecting anything good out of this game other than hoping that Hughes, EP or Debrusk can keep their streaks going

The Wild routinely caved our heads in at the Xcel Energy Centre when they were a mediocre team. It used to be a 5-1 or 6-0 loss every single time, no matter how strong our team was. Since then, they've drafted and developed extremely well.

Now they're leading the NHL and have the leading scorer in the league. And the last time we played them in this arena, they absolutely ventilated our back end in a single period.

If we get a single point out of this game, it's a massive win.

And they had Darby f***ing Hendrickson turning into Wendel Clark during the playoffs. The guy had 1 goal all season.

I have concerns regarding the slow reporting of Hronek's prognosis.

Makes me think the answer is terrible and they are ruling out all other possibilities. Wouldn't be shocked if he's out for 6 months. Really, really, really hope I'm wrong.

Hronek had shoulder problems in Motown, which is rumored to be one of the reasons the Wings weren't willing to meet his contact demands and traded him instead.

So yes, it's a possibility his injury will keep him out indefinitely. But as far as the Canucks being forthright with injury info, that simply will never happen.

Everybody around the league knows the Canucks are scouring the market for blueline help, and that's often the time GM's make their worst mistakes. Hughes was up over 30 minutes in the last game. And that can't continue. It's a dilemma to be sure, but I just can't see any obvious solutions.

Starting out strong once in a while would help keeps Hughes's minutes down.

If we could ever score the first goal or two in a game it would be easier for Tocchet to roll out the other guys instead of needing Hughes out there every 2nd shift to get back into the game.

That's what I'm beginning to think as well.

Which also gets me thinking of LTIR with Hronek back for the playoffs...

Sounds like well we definitely should be concerned the hold up is trying to wait for the specialist appointment. I’m sure once that comes out we’ll find out more about his injury.

Definitely concerned but atleast it didn't loos like anything too devastating. If he's out long-term unfortunately best case scenario is obv out until playoffs, atleast then we can try to replace in the lineup.

As a related aside, clearly Hughes is pretty great no matter what, so splitting up hronek onto his own pairing is something nearly everyone can agree makes sense now right.. find options for them and end up with two solid pairs on the ice most of every game. Brannstrom and anyone can handle bottom pair roles, with juulsen friedman as seventh and eighth defensemen that's pretty top depth.

I believe that the Canucks are going to get thumped. Badly.
Sometimes the schedule is just set up for a tough game. Canucks at the tail end of a tough 6-game road-trip, with the last two going to OT. And Minny is one of the best teams in the league right now.

Of course over the years the Excel Energy Center has been a 'little shop of horrors' for the Canucks.

But I suppose if you're a betting man, you could reap quite a reward by betting on the Canucks against the spread.

It really is funny that the Wild had one of the most electric players of that era in Gaborik, yet our fanbase is all collectively scarred by Brian f***in Rolston and Wes Walz 😂

Just Canucks things.

That Rolston breakaway slapper was some real alpha dog stuff though, just awesome.

I've been wanting to start a thread on Canuck Killers for a long time.

Also, there's such a thing as Killer Canucks. Certain Canuck players that have that affect on teams they play against.

Boeser notably Penguins and LA as of recent.

Oddly enough I remember Kesler always showing up to games against Minnesota. I can recall at least 10 goals he’s scored off the top of my head.

I recall Raymond dominating a bunch of Flames games as well.
