There was some warning about how lucky the Canucks were with injuries last season and how that could regress to the norm. Seems to have drifted substantially in the other direction.
Said it yesterday but this is like 2007-08 where we were already hurting right out of the gate. Bieksa had a solid 2007 campaign and then went down early on in the season due a freak calf injury. Luongo went from god mode to medicore at times. Injuries kept hitting us and you knew it was a lost season by January.

Hronek probably 4-6 with broken collarbone it sounds like.

Hopefully means a Hoglander + for 2nd pair defensman trade soon.

Hughes Myers
Soucy Friedman
Brannstrom Desharnais

I’m getting Benning flashbacks

Allvin gets a lot of credit for stuff and rightfully so but he has to wear this one. This defense is dogshit and only 1 injury. This was a miss.

Sadly, most of the NHL is looking for Dmen. See what the team has down in Abby. Going to have to ride this out with what they have internally.
At some point the team needs to find some longer term solutions on D, but won't do that continuing to give up higher picks.

The Hronek injury is extremely bad given their lack of blueline depth, but between Petey, Hughes, and Lankinen they should have enough quality to beat low/mid table teams and stay in the playoff picture.

Then between Miller/Hronek/Demko getting healthy, and whatever defenseman Allvin adds, you gotta hope it all comes together later in the season.

What crud, upper body. Anyone with eyes could see it was his right arm/shoulder/collar bone.

So Soucy moves to a top pairing guy or will it be Brannstrom?

Will this spur the team to make a trade? Surely the playoffs would be in jeopardy if they lose a top pairing dman and the schedule becoming harder.

The comment about the number of games in a short period of time that's the reward for all that extra practice time and rested games the team has enjoyed.

Buffalo is close with the Canucks in points but playing tougher teams.

Short handed on defence before and now playing a much faster team.

12 pm start, they get today off so ....

I was wrong in both my guesses of who would win the games certainly the Boston game was a pure goalie win.

If listening to the game maybe just shut down the sound because if you heard just the game it isn't close to watching what is happening on the ice, really one sided biased announcing.

Putting Brannstrom next to Hughes seems like the best option imo. Then Tocchet can run his for tree bottom four that he really wants to.

Highly doubt that happens. It breaks two Tocchet-isms ... first, thou shalt no play a defenseman on their offside, and second, though shalt not play Brannstrom in top-four minutes.

Might be a good way to keep sheltering Brannstrom in a way, and keep the similar puck movement ability that Hronek has.

Tocchet gets to run his tree sized pairs in the bottom four.

Hughes - Brannstrom
Soucy - Myers
Forbort - Desharnais

I don't think this is good, but if I were a betting man, I think this is what he'll roll out. I think the rest of the tocchet philosophy will outweigh the no defenders on their offside tocchet philosophy.

I actually totally forgot about McWard. They've been hyping him up so I wouldn't be surprised if they go that way either.

Is Forbert still alive ? What happened to that guy.

Just try out D-Petey. Why not at this point.

Last time we called him he didn't get any ice time did he?

Yeah, I'm all for pulling Pedey up if we can. Ease him into the line up and see what we go. I mean the bar is Hughes with the chaos giraffe, how much worse can it get?

Doesn’t the Hughes - Myers pairing have pretty good underlying metrics? Probably Hughes effect but I imagine this is the pairing they’ll feel most comfortable rolling

Best we can do at the moment.

Hoping, once again, we can rely on Lank to play a solid game.

Yeah this is not gonna be pretty.

Wonder how they try and roll the pairs. My guess -

Hughes - Myers
Soucy - Brannstrom
Friedman - Juulsen/Desharnais

...I'm gonna take a shot of Wyborowa every time I see Hughes/Myers being brought up.
