Lokti had that one bad pass, but I really appreciated the effort he showed to recover from it. Seems to have buyed into the backchecking and such, and he'll get better at it. He's impressed so far, and continues to make a lot of things happen with the puck. Re-sign him Lou.

They outshot their opponent, didn't give up a PPGA despite taking two penalties, and didn't end the period trailing. Baby steps.

This is the freaking Buffalo Sabres without Thomas Vanek  The time for baby steps is gone, they need to <gasp> actually score more than one goal and win a hockey game. If they can't do it today, we're at DEFCON 2.

That guy's post about Henrique not being good has been deleted. Was he a Ranger fan?

Rick Nash doesn't score many goals far from the crease either. Neither does Zach Parise.

I'm still okay with Barch being out. Maybe getting knocked around a bit will light a fire under their ***** and get them playing like they used to.

I'm okay with Barch being out if we have a full lineup. With Butler and Matteau playing, I personally don't believe we have a full lineup.

Not one decent scoring chance yet vs a team that gives up a lot.

Is it that our D don't join the rush?

I like the Goal Bar ad.

Yep. And seriously, Rick Nash is a star (I wouldn't call him a superstar, that's top 10 players IMO) but take a look at any video of his goals. 99.9% of them are scored below the bottom of the faceoff circle. He has elite hands but his shot is far from elite.

Henrique won't be as good as Nash but if you think you need a shot to score in this league (and I think Henrique's shot is actually decent..), you don't even watch your own team let alone know anything about hockey.

He is not a Devils fan. Prob a bitter Rags fan.

I agree with you on Barch.

Of course it'd be the best case scenario to have the depth and health to be able to scratch/demote Butler/Matteau, but Lou would have to make a trade for that to be possible. I just don't think it's ever a good idea to waste a roster spot on Barch.

I don't want Matteau around but at least you could justify his presence a little with the roster the way it is. You can't really do that with Butler now, he plays seven-eight minutes max and he's scored in 'one' of twelve games. You could easily play Barch his ES minutes (which ain't much) and give Loktionov his spot on the second PP.

The irony is that, stereotypically, the better your shot, the less of a complete player you are. Think Semin, Ovechkin, Atlanta Kovy, Gaborik, etc. Snipers are generally one-way players. Obviously there are exceptions like Datsyuk, Crosby, etc. but a good shot is one of the least import attributes in hockey, and the last two players I named are known for other things before their shots.

I hope Matteau has something to say to Kaleta as well. We know Matteau isnt against fighting to say the least

I'm seriously starting to think they tranq him before every game, given his rep before he came here and the fact we haven't seen him get involved 'at all' in the physical stuff
