I feel very Jimmy McNulty about todays' game.

Spot.... Spot on.

You left out their goalie, one of the best.

He ain't one of the best anymore. The guy is a complete head case and he's EXTREMELY inconsistent. All 130 pounds soaking wet of him. People talk about Luongo having mental lapses, but Cryan Miller has tended to fall asleep for months at a time the last few seasons.

Miller is a fine goalie, he just has no mental fortitude. If you get one or two past him he gets rattled. He's like Fleury but with better technical skills.

No mental fortitude, and that's why I said a head case. He's extremely inconsistent. However we make goalies not nearly as good as him look like Jennings Trophy frontrunners, so all bets are off.

Matteau's problems are a lot bigger than that.

He had a hell of a game Thursday night, but he is so unpolished. Like I've been saying, the little things that make Carter/Gionta/Bernier so much better than AHL players is what he lacks. It's what he will eventually learn over time and what he should go back and learn.

I firmly believe that if this season started on time, he would've went directly to the AHL. It's upsetting because starting in the Q, which he physically dominates so it doesn't help him, immediately disables him from playing in the AHL this year. He needs to play the pro game where his strength isn't higher than everyone else's so the rest of his game can progress. However, if it's NHL versus Q, I think he should be in the Q.

i'm not saying it's his only problem, but it's certainly there. he's going to make some bad plays, but that's the reality of most rookies. the question is how well he can make up for them. i feel like he can, it's just a question of if he can get in a groove where the good plays start to outnumber the mistakes.

the reality is with zubrus hurt, the only player in the organization i'd really take in the lineup over him is josefson. there's just not enough forward depth in the org.

Thomas Vanek apparently out for Sabres today with some kind of injury.

That should be good for us, but we'll see. We need our secondary scoring to pick up. Looking at our stats page gets depressing when we have Kovy, Patty, Clarkson, and then a whole bunch of nothing for point totals.

You should hear what that botard Danny Gare was saying about Kovalchuk.

"He's the definition of a power forward."

"His loyalty surprises me, especially because he's Russian."

"I'm not sure if he's giving as much to his team as Ovechkin is in Washington, but he's getting pretty close."
