Brutal coverage on that goal, Juulsen covering his weak side tells Soucy to cover the puck carrier, Soucy chases Rust all the way around the rink, shocking lack of discipline that is endemic to this d-corps. Shockingly Juulsen stops covering the net front and surprise, surprise no forward switches to Soucy's position and there's a wide open man.
This keeps happening, stop chasing guys above the hash marks to the blueline, this is an intentional tactic to push our defencemen out of position and then put the puck to the empty space that they would normally be covering. No idea why we keep doing this, and when I watch other teams almost nobody does it.
The "pressure" narrative is idiotic because that high forward is not in a dangerous position and hardly any opposing d-men are going to pinch in and leave that forward as the last man on half the blueline. It's pressure that doesn't close off shooting or passing lanes and can only put guys out of position or force switches that we don't want.
