Not a good start, nice try at the end. Some quick thoughts:

Officials were flat out terrible. Just once I'd like to see one of our stars get the same benefit of the doubt or home ice advantage that even Karlsson got today. Absolutely pathetic performance with zero consistency in calls.

If Demko is truly day-to-day, this has to be Silovs last game. Guy has single handedly cost the team at least 3 points this season in 6 games played, and probably has the lowest goals saved above expected on a per game basis in the league. Easy to see why Tocchet has overplayed Lankinen, even if you score 4 against a bottom feeder and only let up ~20 shots you can't guarantee a point.

Myers had one of the worst games I've seen from him this year, and that's saying something. Dude was all over the ice, and not in a good way.

Hughes/Hronek carried the team's comeback attempt, rest of the blueline was super iffy. They've tried shifting up the pairings and it's not really doing much, the construction of the bottom 4 is just super flawed, and it shows when someone like Lankinen or Demko isn't carrying.

Petterson's line had a start/stop game, which was pretty much true of the entire forward group. Some good, some bad, but most of the game was dictated based on which d pairing was on the ice.

Team's clearly missing Miller, but even more than that I don't know how long they can hold on without a competent backup (hopefully Demko soon) or a defensemen, as it's just getting ridiculous at this point.

I think we should trade Silovs for some veteran tweener goalie in the AHL (i.e. Jack Campbell) after we send him down. I see no scenario where he has a future with this team.

Has probably cost the team 4+ points and think there's a psychological effect with the players going on.

Was pretty clear the team got rattled and started changing the way they defended in the first after Silovs let in the first one. They went into "we can't allow a shot" mode and started chasing, and it just made things worse.

I don't know why the "defense sucks" and the "Silovs sucks" camps are fighting.

Both can be true.

There's no way you can watch our games without Silovs and think the defense hasn't been atrocious.

By the same token, there's no way you can watch Silovs and think he's giving us a chance to win.

And see games like last night where d was pressured but did an excellent job in front of net they are not as confident when silovs plays it shows

Maybe it's partly the absence of J.T. Miller, but one thing is becoming painfully apparent. Canucks just don't have enough size or speed up front.

Hoglander, Suter, Blueger and Garland are all six feet or under. Even Boeser and Pettersson aren't very physical. Last night they were badly outmuscled by the Bruins. Tonight the lack of team speed on a back-to-back was hard to ignore.

It's something Allvin is going to have to address sooner or later. This current group of forwards is game and willing.......but in a long playoff grind, they're giving away too much size, strength and speed.

That's why I really hope they keep Sasson up and give him some minutes. At least the kid can fly.

Clawed back to make it look better than it did. They were non existent the first half of the game. Goaltending was trash but this team has some serious issues. Been an incredibly meh season and I have little confidence they’re going to figure it out to the point they’ll actually be a threat to do some damage.

I don't want to do post-hoc analysis, but even in the one game Silovs wasn't bad he really didn't pass the eye test. The guy has great athleticism and can make great saves but f***ing Christ his fundamentals have not improved at all. Throw any traffic in front of him and he probably has no idea where the puck is, if he has to make a save under pressure it's a total guess where he'll put the rebound and if it's an odd man/broken play situation he's going to overplay the puck. I feel like it's a tools-but-no-toolbox kind of situation here.

Sure there were a lot of other things wrong with the team tonight but Lankinen or healthy Demko out there don't give up 2-3 goals that Silovs did. Maybe they get beat in that breakaway but they aren't going to go WTF any time the puck isn't in their line of sight.

Actually don't think Silovs was all that bad. Yes, Lankinan would have saved 1 or 2 of those, but puck luck went the Pens way. No doubt our D is not playing great, but Soucy Juulssen Meyers are usually more adequate than tonight.

So we lost one, it's not like we got blown out of the building. Reffing, puck luck were against us tonight.. We didnt really get outplayed. Glad to see Petey get a goal.

On to Buf.

I don't see how people are defending Silovs right now, Lankinen has the same defense in front of him but he actually does his damn job.

Silovs is all over the place and lets in goal after goal, stop it.

With Demko close to being back and a day off since last game, a real coach would have made a change at 3-1

But we don’t have a real coach

After the top two players, it turns to crap rather quickly.

Although he'll be rusty, Demko couldn't come back quick enough.
This defense looks like it should have Gudbranson and Sbisa added as the 5th and 6th defenseman. I really hope Allvin has something up his sleeve to upgrade this dreadful defense.

Beautiful goal by Hughes, and a nice push at the end, but this team won't win with this lower tier defense. It's atrocious.
