NEWS/NOTES:
  • The Florida defeated the San Jose Sharks Thursday night by a generous score of 2-0. The Panthers had 2 successful coaches challenges to negate 2 sharks goals much to the dismay of sharks fans. Sharks dominated through certain stretches of the game, but Luongo held the line really well.
  • Florida started the season 1-5-0 on the road but has won two of its past three; Los Angeles was 5-0-2 at home before losing its past four games at Staples Center, all in regulation.
  • The LA Kings are in a bit of a rut right now after losing their last 4 games in regulation all of them at home with their previous loss coming against the Boston Bruins 2-1.
  • This is the first game of a back to back for the Kings as they will fly over tomorrow to face their first ever game against the Vegas Golden Knights for a surprising Pacific Division showdown
  • It is suspected that Jonathan Quick will start against the Panthers tonight and Darcy Kuemper starts against the Knights tomorrow.
  • Anze Kopitar extends his point streak to 10 straight games, the longest of his career. This is also the longest kings point streak since Dustin Brown did it in 2012 before the trade deadline.

How bout a win today boys, 5 losses on the trot would hurt my feelings.

Come on kopitar, show this kid pretender how to do it.

Pls don't lose.

Alright for some reason Kuemper is starting tonight and Quick will play tomorrow against the Knights

I think if Dowd puts his game together, he could be a really good solid 3rd line center. He has all the tools.

I think it's fascinating how good he is at keeping the puck considering the size. It's pretty fascinating.

He must have really strong legs but it's like all leverage...gets under everyone and just squeezes through with his body. I'm more impressed at his ability to control the puck with sticks on him. I know that's what you're saying though, just super cool to see him put both things together, he's escapable AND puck possession in one.

Pearson's shot has been flat all season. He has a cannon. Wonder what's going on with him

Exactly, I've seen him almost duck under bigger players and press back up against them for leverage. It's so peculiar. It such an interesting skillset and ability. You certainly don't see that often.
