Apparently at one point this season Miller was playing through 3 injuries at once

Is it possible for medical staff to put their foot down and say no Jonathan, you need to take some time off?

Last year, Demko played 51 games, won 35, with a 2.45 GAA, and a .918 SV%.

Not throwing stones at Lank & Silovs, but we're not running with our best. Where would the Jets be without Helly?

Won't lose my shit until Demko and Brockstar are back. And yes, we need help on D, as do most teams in the NHL.
IMHO Demko would not fare much better than either Silovs or Lanky; both have been let down by often atrocious defensive play that has given them little chance on a whole lot of goals this year. After last nights debacle I suggest a skills practice, particularly on short passes...

This Zadarov stuff needs to stop. He’s on pace for 0 goals , 20 points , -4 and 160 PIM this year. He’s garbage that went on a good run in sheltered minutes.

Is Darren Forbert still on our team?

I don’t see how Zadorov’s current play has anything to do with what we did last year, and never suggested we bring him back at 5 million.

I’m simply mentioning that last year when our d was injured/out of sorts around this time we made the first move to fix it, and it’s probably time to do something similar again.

We need to stop playing guys when they are obviously hurt, Mik, Petey and now Miller. Having <insert player name> at 50% for like half a season is not better than losing him for a month or two and then getting the 100% back.

The team is not playing well right now but I don't think the sky is falling. Last year everything went right. This year the team is starting out missing key pieces and also had to shed some depth to give raises to a few core players.

It would have been great if no matter what adversity this team faced the organization would be so well run that there was always a next man up to fill roles as needed. That's not the case, but this team can, and probably will hit a much higher level of play once they returns to some semblance of healthy again.

Once they bring on some help on the blue line I think the team will start to play a more settled and predictable style of hockey.

Pretty spot on imo. During the offseason most of us were expecting somewhat of a regression and now that it's happening people are losing their minds.
I can only speak for myself, but my expectation this season was that the team would end up in the 4-6 spot in the west and so far that's exactly what it's been shaping up to be.

Hughes is a top D-man in the league (THE top D-man last year). He's averaging 25 minutes per game which is what one would expect (he's 6th in average ice in the league). He is not going to burn out. It IS sustainable as almost every top D-man in the history of the league has played that amount game in and game out for years. As one example...Doughty has averaged 26+ minutes a game since he entered the league in 08-09. Or his counter part on the ice last night...Josi.

Hughes playin 25 minutes isn't the concern. He better be playing that amount. The concern is the second pairing. It needs to be addressed. The chaos giraffe needs a better babysitter than Soucy. Or the chaos giraffe needs to be moved to give Soucy a partner he can play with.

And on thing to keep in mind...while they haven't played well they are second in the division by Pt%. A team that can play at a 101 point pace while playing poorly is a very good team.

Yea. I’d be concerned if he was 35, but he’s 25, doesn’t PK and is one of the best skaters in the league. The benefit of having a Norris level defenseman is supposed to be that you can play him 25 minutes a night. Suter, Doughty and Karlsson had some years in the 29 minute range. That’s probably pushing it.

Would not be a bad result if we get there while breaking in a couple of rookies in Lekk, Raty and Bains.

Passing has been an underrated issue with this team for years. And not just the lower defensemen. The stars can be just as much a part of the problem.

I think defence depth is our greatest weakness right now. Myers and Soucy not even able to play decent hockey of late.

Never thought I’d miss Forbert and Desharnais this much lol. Brannstrom is good, but Juulsen absolutely sucks defensively, hopefully Pettersson can slot in for Juulsen until one the injured defenders return.

Not concerned, they’re not here for regular season hockey, they have the rare ability to transform into much more impactful players in the playoffs becoming an elite shutdown pair, they were our best D pairing in the playoffs

These guys are winning the Stanley cup ,

Tell me I’m wrong @PuckMunchkin

We’re 12th in the league in win percentage, not like we’re near the bottom of the standings at new years and need to make an incredible run like the kings and blues did in the 2nd half to clinch a playoff spot and win the Cup. We’re in a good position in hindsight, great chance at winning the Cup this year.
