Looks like the Boeser, Miller and Debrusk line will be stapled together for the immediate future. So much for Debrusk being a 'natural partner' on the Pettersson line.

But that line with Miller in the middle has some real short-term potential imo......although it remains to be seen how putting three 'shooters' on the same line will work out in the long run.

All 3 guys have a solid all around skill set, I don't foresee a stylistic clash.

I don't mind it. Also, not like Petey gets the short end of the stick he will center Joshua and Garland, two players that will make his life a lot easier as they do a lot of the work.

The emergence of Heinen-Blueger-Sherwood makes this work.

Before the season the expectation was Garland/Joshua would anchor the third line, Debrusk/Petey second, and Miller/Boeser the first, with spare parts filling in the gaps.

Now that those “spare parts” have formed a killer third line, you just jam the remaining pieces into a much more formidable top 6, and Debrusk’s forechecking and straight line style has meshed a lot better with Miller than Petey so far.

Demko:
-taking more and tougher shots
-part of the plan

Last Night's Game:
-loved the gapping of the Canucks defence with the forwards
-thought the tracking was good
-not as many odd-man rushes
-good game-management game
-good for DeBrusk and Pettersson's confidence

Managing Odd-Man Rushes
-video, practice, and sometimes players need to hear some stuff they don't want to hear
-players themselves said the previous two games were unacceptable

Lankinen:
-will play tomorrow
-stays in the moment; doesn't worry about the next opponent

Sherwood:
-gives credit to the pro-scouting staff for identifying what Tocchet likes and finding the right player
-adds that juice
-even when the team is quiet, he's chirping on the bench
-gets quiet guys talking
-talked to him over the summer and Sherwood told Tocchet he has more offense to give
-has a chip on his shoulder; kind of like Garland

3rd Line:
-connected and supporting each other
-successful because they are playing close together
-are system guys

Forbort:
-week-to-week

Joshua:
-probably not playing tomorrow
-taking a more cautious approach

Wondering where Joshua will be slotted in when he returns? That Blueger, Sherwood and Heinen line is on fire right now; and Pettersson is coming around playing with Garland and Hoglander. And they're running with Boeser, Miller and Debrush as the top trio for the time being.

Looks like possibly 'fourth line' duty to ease him back into the mix.

Suter's been in Hoglander's place for the last 4 periods.

There's no doubt Suter is holding that spot for Joshua, and then Suter will go back down to 4C.
