Calgary often has an advantage in their first game coming from Calgary to the coast. Calgary is at a higher elevation and that affects their ability to play well into the 3rd period as sea level air is higher in oxygen. They are accustomed to thinner air found at altitude, similar to Colorado. It takes 3-5 days to acclimatize. It works in reverse for sea level teams going to Calgary and the thinner oxygen usually means the visiting team will suck air by the 3rd period. Unless it's Colorado flying in directly, they'll be comparable.
calgary elevation - Google Suche "Calgary is located at an altitude of approximately 1,048 meters (3,438 feet) above sea level. This places the city at a relatively high elevation compared to many other major Canadian urban centers."

Ive said it since he was pressured in to signing his contract from media/fans/management - Pulseless Pete does not want to play in Van.

He is just unhappy. No real injury, just making excuses.

Trade him asap imho.
Can you the work then?

What are some trades you think could work

Ironically, I was upset having to PVR the game since I was busy last night. Turns out that was for the best.

Can't say I'm remotely surprised Forbort and Desharnias didn't look good. Little disappointed Petey's first game was... lacking to say the least. I don't want to jump the gun here but he needs to get rolling this season or we're not going anywhere.
Hey, Bourne, I always enjoy reading your takes so my question is genuine and not of mocking nature.

But would you trade Pettersson’s contract for Horvat’s? And if not, by what margin

Thanks

I wouldn't.

Much as we've all been critical of Petey. His bad season last year still eclipsed Horvat's by nearly 30 points. He's also a better overall player, especially in his own zone. It's always amused me just how much people overrated Horvat's defensive play outside the Canucks fanbase. He's not bad but he's nowhere close to a specialist.

I'd say if Pettersson had a repeat of last year, i.e., a good half and a average half that resulted in a low 90s point total. He'd be worth about 9.5M maybe 10M given where he could end up.

The better question, in my opinion, will be if Pete's contract was worth losing Lindholm and Zadorov. It's far too early to judge, of course. Even a slow start doesn't mean Pete can't explode and reach a 100+. That's really why he can command 11M. The potential to go on a huge point streak is always there. It's just a matter if he can actually hit it.

I was on the island for a conference... what the f*** happened the other night??
They tried to shut it down like Tampa used during the big days, but they ended up getting exposed ultimately

Though not a complete defensive meltdown, I’d say they win that game with a better performance from Silovs

So you disagree with the managements decision to try to build a contender now as opposed to rebuilding?

What other trades with futures coming back as the main piece would you like to see happen after we move our franchise center?
