Not completely his fault but once I saw confirmed that Silovs was starting - I already knew we were going to be blown out.

I’m surprised about the decision to start him, I guess Lankinen told the team he was tired. It would have made more sense to ease Silovs for the SJS game - now his confidence is completely shot.

Bad decision imo. Oh well onto the next

I'm not really convinced that it's a personnel thing. But they are clearly missing a top quality freelancer in the middle of it all.

I think the much bigger problem is just...how glued to their "spots" everyone is. It's so infuriating to watch.

I said the exact same thing last season. Our powerplay worked in the first half of last season because it was new. Once teams figured it out, Tocchet made virtually zero adjustments; a trend that has seemingly continued. It's his biggest Achilles' heel as a coach.

I don't know whether it's out of stubbornness or a genuine belief everything will work itself out, eventually, but I don't know how much more proof he needs the latter ain't happening.

I could only watch the first two periods. Ugly. Here are a few of my observations:

- Really confused as to why Soucy and Myers are collectively so bad this year. Not sure what has to happen for them to get back on track either individually or as a pair but they need to figure it out.
- Sherwood is an absolute beast!
- Suter is underrated generally, put in a strong effort, and is an important player for the team considering his versatility
- Sprong is ... unique. At times, he seemed like the most dangerous Canucks forward. I like having him in the lineup considering the speed and offensive threat he can provide. Probably best served as a 4th line forward who can play up when he is playing well.
- Silovs? When is Demko coming back??????
- Garland is a gutsy player to chuck knuckles with a guy much bigger than him. Kudos to him giving a crap
- Been well covered already but the powerplay was horrific. They have too much talent not to get it going again.
- Paying customers at the game last night - my condolences.

Im starting to actually we may have the worst contract in the league.

And I rag on Nurse a ton

Pettersson is clearly some emotional headcase

And Yes we are looking at a Huberdeau level of drop in production from him.

xGF/60 on the PP. So much emphasis on the defence but this team's defensive metrics are not even that bad -- this (and the offence in general) has been far worse.

A caller to the post-game, post-mortem show made a valid and interesting point.

For the price of the contract they gave to Debrusk, they could have brought Zadorov back. Ouch!
There is a org blindness with paying good dmen what they’re worth. Could have got Tanev for less than 5 but wouldn’t commit long term.

Debrusk is looking like a major issue.

@Bobby9 for Peteys money he made today. players get 13 biweekly payments throughout the year. He makes 11.6 a year, 892,307.69 biweekly so he really only made 63,736.26 before deductions today. Which is like my yearly earnings
I did 11.6M / 82 games

Just wish our blueline had that depth. Hamhuis, Salo, Bieksa, Edler, Ehrhoff, Rome. :(

Right now it's Hughes, Hronek and a bunch of crap.

Thanks to the GM idiots before that didn't believe in drafting dmen and kept selling all of our picks for short term useless bullshit. This is what the result is unfortunately.

Every coach has a blind spot and Tocchet's most obvious one is that he thinks he's qualified to coach the power play. Even the way he talks about it "you gotta be hungry for pucks" etc is just wrong. It's all about movement and flow and the players clearly are not getting any help from the coaching staff right now. They aren't in sync at all.

This team needs a powerplay coach bad, that was horrendous yesterday lol. A team like the Oilers will score 40% of the time, if they don’t it’s so good it gives them momentum. Ours kills our momentum it’s so bad, can’t win a Championship without a dangerous powerplay.
