mildly, yes. Skillsy, moderately sized guy. Probably a wing in the pros, but can play C. Exciting offensive guy.
Yea I just saw Appleyards tweet, sounds like he thinks he has 1st line upside, not a star but a productive first line winger. Thats about the best we could have hoped for in a G trade (outside of a 2023 first). The rumor right now is Mackie, Tippet + a 2nd. Honestly thats more than I thought we would get.

Well Hextall is GM of Pittsburgh.....so it's likely he hasn't talked to Giroux.

As supposedly Fletcher keeps stating he hasn’t, sure, Hextall or any other GM I guess is more likely.

But if Fletcher has really received an offer of Justin Barron and a 1st round pick from Colorado for a rental with an NMC, he should be fired on the spot if this drama continues hoping for more and that package doesn’t arrive in Philadelphia this weekend. I’ll root for Giroux wherever he goes, but a haul like that with some sweeteners lands a Mark Scheifele or JT Miller in the off-season.

1st line is a bit much. I would say 2nd line/PP ceiling, and of course, he is by no means a sure thing to even be a NHL'er, like most prospects. He is a fun watch, though. The worry is that he doesn't have the size, strength, or defensive ability to play in the NHL. He is quick more than fast, but has some nice hands and offensive imagination.

That is a pretty good pkg, though. Two 1sts and a 2nd.

Who is? Giroux owes absolutely nothing to the Flyers. They screwed the prime of his career through flagrant incompetence. He can just as easily not waive his NMC at all and just leave as a free agent.
Except he wants to play for a Cup this spring. So that wouldn't be easy for him.

One wrinkle: Philly is at 49 out of 50 contracts now, so they can only take two signed players in before adding another contract going back.

Braun will be on the move to some other team, as well. Not sure if you are factoring that into the equation.

That would be a deal to appeal it everyone in the org.

Tippet for the archaics above who want big bodies and shooters
2nd for Fletch to attach to JVR to give him away ofr free this summer
Mack for Briere who likely wants skill for the future when he could be GM

Pretty confident Giroux won't be the only player leaving before the deadline.

Braun, Brassard, Yandle (if he wants to) are prime candidates to go as well

Sounds to me like Colorado is just being played to drive up the price. Giroux seems to very much want to be in Florida.

Seems so. I doubt Florida is offering even the rumored Samoskevich + Tippett + 2nd if Friedman thinks the return in underwhelming. It's probably Tippett + something.

I’m obvious bias but that would be my top destination. The best team in the league with the easiest road the cup final.

He must really want to stay out East.

He's got really young kids - may want to stay in the same time zone, have the ability for them to go to the beach, etc.

He must really want to stay out East.

Could be any number of reasons for that.

May be a matter of familiarity with the teams and opponents in the East.

May be that, in his assessment, Florida has a better team (who knows what he sees, but the Flyers have had a much better go at the Avalanche lately than the Panthers).

May be that, from his dealings with other players around the league, he gets along with/likes more dudes in the Panthers room than in the Avs one.

May be that the travel will be less grueling for a guy who has two toddlers at home.

May be that the plan truly is to just come right back to Philly in the summer, and Florida is just a nice extended vacation for said young family.

May be some bizarre revenge fantasy where he truly feels the need to go through a bunch of old Eastern foes to feel worthy (this is sarcastic).

Hard to say what goes through his mind, and I doubt he'll ever tell, but the explanations are endless.

Seen Tippet thrown around a lot in the rumor mill for Florida. I watched a lot of him in the OHL but have not been keeping tabs on him since his draft. What do people think of him at this point?

Sounds like it was Florida all along and that "show" is nothing more than Fletcher saving face and squeeze out as much as possible from Zito.

Sakic better opt out immediately. Let Zito take Fletcher to the cleaners on that one. Congrats to the Panthers on getting the prime price of this TDL.
