If Giroux is moved, it will be at the 2024-25 trade deadline, if the Sens are not in contention.

He is the type of player they want to show the young guys how to be pros.

He lives (and has lived for years) about 10 minutes away from the CTC in Kanata. The main reason he went home to play with the Sens is that he has a young family, is settled in the area, and wants to spend as much time with his kids as possible. Moving away for 15 months wouldn't make sense. Moving away next year for 3 months to chase a cup might make sense.

0 chance he is traded this season.

Okay, so you trade him to Avs for 2024 1st and we trade him back to you in the summer for future considerations. Deal.

Would he be willing to move on from OTT?

6.5M for the rest of this year and next, currently 35 Y.O.

What is he worth to a cup contender this year?
He's not for sale. They need as much leadership as they can get right now.

Despite his age he's one of the last players they'd move on from right now.

Obviously if he asks out because of the tire fire they'd accommodate, but I think he'll have the patience to wait this out another year. If the team still hasn't taken a step forward next season he may ask out for another cup run but that's a far cry from moving him with over a year left on his deal.

Ya, I don't see him having interest in moving given he and his family are from the area. Maybe next year at the deadline if he wants to chase a Cup, he might want to move then. As you get older, have had a successful career, and are set up financially, your family is your primary motivation in life.
