I understand there's an ilness going around but they have played mediocre for the past 3 weeks
They definitely look worse these last few

But this is why you don’t use up margin for error going pointless in California and blowing late regulation losses on humpty loser teams like Anaheim and San Jose.

And it was literally a final half minute regulation loss against San Jose.

The last two games you could write off because of the sickness because they didn’t make dumb plays (save the OT). But today is just dumb play after dumb play. Manage the f***ing puck. Make sure changes are clean. Don’t throw blind passes.
This is exactly why the sickness stuff is bullshit. It may be impacting them physically but there’s no excuse for this crap and it’s been going on for three f***ing weeks.

It’s so incredibly hard to have patience when we have been subjected to this type of trash hockey for more than a decade now. I’m just so f***ing tired of it. They aren’t a bunch of 18-20 year olds anymore, at some point if you can’t play like a f***ing vet then f*** off.

This Flyers team is atrocious. The Devils sent out a team of lepers and plague victims and the best the Dlyers can do is 10 shots in two periods? Are their players sick also?
This seriously is the type of game I could see Torts raging over the fact that his team looked so underwhelming.

I was very close to pulling the trigger on a Mercer jersey after the 22-23 season concluded. What a bullet I dodged there.
I’m kind of done with him.

Imagine if we gave him $6 million before last season on his new extension?

We’d be like “at least we only have two more years left of Palat at that price. Too bad we still have 6-7 more of Mercer. Maybe he’ll be worth it when the cap is $110 million!”.

I think this is a stretch. Context matters. I don’t think the game in Carolina was bad performance. They got burned by burned by a bad call. They didn’t manage the end games in SJ and Anaheim well, but travel for a team not used to it has an effect. Especially when they have to play two games in under 24 hours a part of it.

They played well vs Rangers and Tampa overall. Florida and Toronto were good all things considered with illness.

This is a bad performance though.

Is this really gonna be a game we have to hold on for dear life in again just to get a point?

It literally feels like every 3rd period since the second Carolina game has been like that.

Even against some of the stronger teams in the league like Anaheim, San Jose, Seattle and the Rangers.

I thought we were bad against the Rangers too. Even if we didn’t look bad until the 3rd.

I don’t think we’ve had a good 3rd period since before Christmas.

I'm starting to worry about this team.

I've been pretty adamant I don't think this current roster is good enough. Yeah sure if they get the breaks in the playoffs then it's possible but I don't like their chances. They need quite a bit of deadline help. Pull that off and they're as good or better than anyone and everyone.

It’s now 2 straight years of Mercer being on pace for 30 something points. He’s not really very good.

This will be another struggle to manage a point.

And he doesn't do anything else. He wins absolutely no board battles, like ever. Does not carry play on his own at all. Is not physical (probably why he's never missed a game). Fails so many clears on the PK I have no idea why he's put there other than to rest other players.

He's not an NHLer to me. If you're only going to be putting up 30 points you'd be better doing other things, and he does none of those things.

The first Canes game wasn't bad. The 2nd Canes game was certainly a bad performance. They didn't play well vs the Rangers either. Florida was meh. Toronto they got f***ing smashed and merchanted their way to an OT.

Lou has secretly back control of the Devils! We now play Islanders hockey too!

I think it was telling Keefe didn’t complain after the Leafs game where they got bent over for most of it. He knows they’re dealing with some shit out of their control. I’ll remain optimistic for now. I think it was a slump out of the break combined with the horrific timing of a virus right after when it seemed like there were signs of returning to their game against Tampa. Back to back now and then they have games Wednesday and Saturday. I’d hope it’s run it’s course by then and we start seeing significant improvements.

Their play in every one of those games ranged from straight bad to mediocre. They did not play "well" in any of them.

I guess the break made some people forget what that actually looks like? I just don't understand what you guys are seeing.

We’ve gone from the goalie being the weakest link to the goalie being our only hope lol
