This is wonderful and absolutely where I hope to be in 20 years. I skate every Sunday morning with a great group of guys... but it costs a $20 spot. Well worth it!I am one of those guys 70+ yo and playing twice a week. Our local rink has noon drop in hockey from 12 to 2 every week day, so on Tuesday there is a good group of retired guys who show up. On Friday, some of us better older players skate with much better and younger players, and we have a ball. We are respected as legends and locker room camraderie and joking is great. I cruise when I want, play no defense and occasionally make the beautiful move or pass... all for $8 dollars.
F going out and coming home after midnight, playing with clowns who can't wrap their pinheads around "rec hockey" and the cost is less and the ice time longer.... win win win!
Keep playing and remember.... it's supposed to be fun and make you feel like a kid again!

I’m not old by any means but I am getting older and noticing some stiffness in my hips primarily.
I was just wondering what you guys are feeling like 35+ and what tips / tricks you’ve done to deal with it.
I am going to the gym 4 times a week minimum, doing a healthy mix of cardio and weights with my focus being on core and legs. I am thinking of hiring a personal trainer and trying to incorporate some flexibility stuff in there. I am not really sure but sometimes my hips just lock up.
Playing senior hockey now. I am 35, it’s full contact. I am having fun and having some success on the ice but it takes more out of me than it should and my hips seem to get it the worst

I felt my first "dip" at 39... second one at 50. It's frustrating but you'll adapt.Im 31 and already having trouble taking on guys like I did when I was even 29. Crazy how fast you can actually hit a wall once you reach 30. Im not exactly a gym rat either.
It is not even that I don't want to take people on anymore. Its like my mind just stops me from doing so. Like it knows my body. Frustrating for sureI felt my first "dip" at 39... second one at 50. It's frustrating but you'll adapt.
Yeah, I used to be full of piss and vinegar and fought often in junior. Now I just don’t have that dog in me anymore. The dog inside of me now is a golden retriever. Not scared at all, just indifferent mostly. It is not even that I don't want to take people on anymore. Its like my mind just stops me from doing so. Like it knows my body. Frustrating for sure
