Eighteen more games remaining and at least 22 more points to get in the playoffs. Barring another slump, they should make it.

"'Cause all I wanna do is go the distance to the wild card spot. Nobody's ever gone the distance with Columbus and New York and Detroit and Montreal, and if I can go that distance, you see, and that bell rings and I'm still standin' in the wild card spot, I'm gonna know for the first time in this 7 year rebuild, see, that I wasn't just another bum from the Atlantic division.”

Win 10 or more and they are virtually guaranteed to make it. 9 wins is pretty much in, but slight chance we miss. 8 wins and we need some help, but still a good chance to make it.

just adding percentages to this
7 wins = 44% chance at playoffs
8 wins = 78% chance at playoffs
9 wins = 96% chance at playoffs
10 wins = over 99% chance at playoffs

This team is 24-13-3 since December 1, 2024, with 22 of those 40 games coming on the road. This has been one of the best teams in the league the last half season.

I think we need 10 wins to safely get in. 11 all but guarantees it. 9 Wins and a loser point will probably get it done. We have 11 home games remaining and 7 road games.

Start making plans for round 1.

I am gonna be completely honest and say I didn't think that our record since December was that good. Thats around 8th best in the league, up there with the Caps, Stars, Jets, Avs, Panthers, Vegas and Tampa.

We're also posting some of the worst GF, GA, PP%, PK%, SA/GP and S% of that group. But our Sv% is 3rd best.

Let’s just win 9 straight so we can buy some playoff tickets

Did we not have a GDT yesterday?

Did y’all miss the jinx thread that started our 5 game losing streak? Let’s not go there again, we are in no position after being so streaky lately (5W streak, followed by 5Ls, and now 5-0-1….)

I don't want to count my chickens yet either, but that was an entirely different set of circumstances with all the injuries, and the road trip.

The team playing now, is the team that was playing well before Norris and Pinto went down. They aren't playing great the last 2 games, but they are getting there.

Not counting my chicks, buuuut.

All we need is .500 hockey to make it in.

We're healthy (knock on wood).

We have the 2nd easiest strength of schedule in the league.

The Red Wings and Blue Jackets have the most and 2nd most difficult strength of schedule.

We have the 2nd most number of home games remaining. (11 homes games vs 7 road games).

If we don't make it, we truly don't deserve to be there.

Agreed. It's sports and anything can happen but this team is a playoff team, IMO.

I'm still ready to say that the odds are 50/50. Buffalo, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh are out. The Bruins just traded their captain, and the Islanders have shown much splash. The Red Wings who we just beat and have lost 6 in a row. This leaves the Senators, Rangers, Canadiens, and Blue Jackets. Any of those 4 could get really hot or really cold.

You're all counting chickens.

This is a streaky team. We just won 3 so we are due to lose a few.

It's also a relatively healthy team right now.

And who cares about "easy" schedules. We just got dominated by Philly.
How in the world were we dominated by Philly? We had far more zone time than them, and outside that terrible Highmore mistake, which he instantly fixed, they pretty much had no super dangerous chance. We definitely got dominated by Detroit after we took the lead, which is a bit concerning. But overall in our win streak, we've played good overall, even if not great. Give the team some time to develop more chemistry, and hopefully continue to take advantage of their easier schedule. Expected stats also say we played better, and this is even when factoring score effect and venue.

We gave up like 22 shots to Philly on the 2nd night of a b2b. How in the world was that dominated?
