GDT: Germany vs Czechs QF at WC

3-0. Nice PP. Unimpressed with the much lauded Grubauer today - does allow himself to be drawn out and open up his goal.

It's funny because all I see is Vejmelka highlight reels of saves from Arizona. Diving and flopping. Turns out he is a very calm and positional goalie.lol
 
This game is a lesson on why special teams are so important.

It's even 5vs5, Czech has 3 PP goals.
 
Still a special teams' game. After the Czechs scored 2 goals early into the game, they are (undestandably) focusing on defensive. I don't think it is over yet, Germany aren't playing bad at all. The had quite many scoring chances too.

It is only even in terms of number of goals, but in the second period the Czechs clearly are stronger 5 on 5. That said, the Germans are efficient in occasionally forcing some great chances even though the Czechs dominate. But in the first period there was not much between the teams 5 on 5.
 
Vejmelka having himself a game.. 2 huge saves. Could easily be 3-2.

I agree with bigbadboar.. far from over!

Second period is always a little bit easier for the better team to dominate, Czechs did that but Germany had their moments and chances. It's probably not completley even but it wouldn't be 3-0 with no penalties.
 
Random but gives me great joy that dostal and jiricek are watching this and part of this team. Future goalie and D!
 
Our C depth is working out for us...

Krejci, Hertl and kampf is a very nice spine that are all great at faceoffs. We are a nation of wingers so it's a rare showing of good C depth.

Hertl and Vrana have been much more noticable to my eye.

Last.one... Canada game 10 minutes behind us now and 3-1
.. if no comeback I can switch to that third period finale

Germany is pressuring now but they're missing high-end offensive power to be able to switch that I guess. Against the Czech just hard work is not enough.
 
Bad luck on trip... Or kundratek is a sneaky prick. Both are possible.

Czechs can't be allowing chances like that.

I remember reading like a week ago that he had lost his voice after the first couple games. It sounded like they hoped he would be back by this point but I actually never heard any more about it

I couldn't hear him in game one. He was there but it was painful
