I get it’s international but man that’s a hockey hit. Bad pass, head down, big guy on little guy. Unless you want hitting out of the game there’s nothing he could’ve done different

The rules are clear. It is on the onus of the hitter, to make clean contact. In this case, Schneider failed in his responsibility.

it wasn’t a case where the head went down last second, or the target tripped. His head was down the whole time. He probably didn’t intend to hurt the kid, or make a bad hit, but the rules for this are very clear. It isn’t about removing hitting from hockey, it’s about having the ability, both mentally and physically, to make good decisions on when and how to hit, to avoid such penalties and likely suspension.

A player with their head down, isn’t open season.
